Backyard Basketball Court (1 Viewer)

My mom and her husband did this. He had kids in HS at the time.  It was a disaster. Yeah, they played on it and enjoyed, but the neighborhood found out and their backyard turned into Rucker Park when they weren't home. Trash everywhere, noise disturbance warnings, etc...

They tried no trespassing signs. Didn't work.

Eventually they removed the rims when they were leaving for a prolonged time.

EDIT: looking through, this seems to pertain to a normal backyard court. I was referring to a full court blacktop with two goals situation.

Thought about this and will probably padlock the gates.

Sounds like my kind of party.

Jealous...  I'm assuming you're getting an adjustable rim so you can hold a FBG 3-on-3 tourney, with 8-foot rims?

Yes!  Court is FANTASTIC!  We're out there pretty much daily.  Wife and daughter love it too even though they don't play basketball.  I'll have to upload some pictures.  Hard to get the whole court in a photo though.  Video gives a better perspective of the court.  My son has become a much better player in the last 2 months because of this thing.  It's been a pretty drastic transformation actually.  We do these shooting drills where he MAKES 50 shots from the 5 around the world positions - so 250 in total - shooting about 6-8 feet away from the hoop.  Anyways when we first started, he was ok, he'd go on a 6-10 consecutive makes a few times per set.  Now he'll go on 20-30 consecutive makes, usually a few times within a set. 10 consecutive is pretty standard for him.  I have a rule where if he misses 3 straight, he does 10 pushups and he hasn't been doing many pushups lately.  He can really shoot the ball well.  It's quite a thing to witness actually.

Thanks for the update. Would love to see the pictures as I plan to put in a court in the next couple years.
Sure, I'll do my best.  I live in Chicago though so we're not known for big yards.  My court is not very big.  Have a full lane and H.S. 3 point line that covers top of key and a little more but not all the way around the sides.  Talking about 27X23 or so.

How old is your son. That was an awesome update. I have a rink in my basement for my hockey loving son. But all he wants to do is play. He wont let me "drill" him like your son. My kid is 7. Im hoping its an age thing. We had a minor league hockey player come in and instruct him 1 on 1 and he was great with that.

My son just turned 9 last week. We've been doing dribbling drills since he was 6 but it's not always easy, That's for sure. Sometimes there's tears.  It's a balancing act between 'tough love' and 'understanding love'.  I'm trying to get my son to the point where he's doing drills on his own without me initiating it. He's getting better about it but not quite where I want him to be. I'm guessing once girls factor into the equation he'll be more self motivated.
