Balt backing out? (1 Viewer)

As part of the requests that teams routinely make to the league office in connection with the preparation of a given year’s slate of games, the Ravens have asked not to be sent to Pittsburgh during prime time, according to Jamison Hensley of the Baltimore Sun.

The Steelers have hosted the Ravens at night in three of the past four years, including each of the past two.

Also, the Steelers beat the Ravens at Heinz Field in the AFC title game, which kicked off in the evening.

There has been speculation that the Steelers will host the Ravens during the regular-season opener played the Thursday night after Labor Day.

(We think it will be Tennessee at Pittsburgh to start the season.)

The extent to which the NFL considers or grants such requests isn’t known.

Last year, the Cowboys asked to close out their home schedule with the Ravens, since it was the final regular-season game to be played at Texas Stadium.

And the Ravens thumped them.

So maybe the better approach is to not make special scheduling requests. Or, at a minimum, to make sure no one blabs about the requests.

:lmao: another year of Steelers getting the lion's share of prime time games.

Yes they are a terrific football team who play the game as it should be played.

No they are not fun for neutral fans to watch.

Is this true? If so, then :tumbleweed: Re: the Ravens. Ya gotta play 'em sometime. Might as well play 'em when the league wants you to.

I don't disagree but we've played on primetime in their stadium 3 of the last 4 years, they haven't played on primetime in our stadium since 2003. Let's even it up a bit.

gotta say, I'm a little concerned about the attitude of Harbaugh and Co. They should be taking the opportunity to catch the Steelers coming off a Super Bowl Hangover...on the other hand, realize they lost some key parts this offseason and are will be playing with new faces in some places.

I can appreciate that stat but to dethrone the Big Dogs, you need to be able to go in to a hostile environment (even with everybody watching) and take it away from them.

Maybe it was more about not opening up the season at Pittsburgh since they'll probably be getting their rings and hoisting the banner that night making it a more hostile environment than usual (if that's possible :) ). Kinda a sissy move but makes sense from the Ravens point of view...
