Baltimore at Pittsburgh (1 Viewer)

You know that was a terrible, specific pass call. Quick wide out to the sidelines where the QB has to fully rotate in less than a second?

I think they probably had about the same chance of making the FG as picking up the 1st down. Difference being if you make the FG the game is over whereas if you get the 1st down you still have to score.
How many 50 yarders have been made in that stadiums history? How many into the wind?

WITH SCOBEE???????

No.....odds of hitting that FG were MUCH less than odds of converting a 4th and short
Converting a 4th and short with Vick throwing the ball?
I'd have a better chance at kicking a FG than Vick had of getting that.

Looked pretty good at 52 yards there.

But you're right, Michael Vick's pinpoint accuracy was probably a high percentage bet.

With a QB who couldn't make that throw in his prime let alone this late stage of his career.

No arguing with that part. My argument was with the guy saying Pitt should have kicked a FG

Embarrassing. They need to get a win too to help out this stretch. I wish they didn't always have to do pressers because I have no interest in hearing what Tomlin has to say. The offensive game planing was beyond atrocious. Scobee needs to be given a bus ticket home and Bell and the defense deserve an apology.

Scobee is not Tucker, and he had JUST missed two straight kicks from closer than that.

Ok, enough about not kicking, kicking, etc...

How about Aiken tonight? Is this a good omen for the future, or just lucky against a crappy defense?

He missed both combined by about an inch, and with PLENTY of distance.

He's a long time kicker that had missed a couple. How many times do you see stories of guys missing big kicks in games and then redeeming themselves with an even longer one later? Scobee didn't just forget how to kick. He's made several 50+ yard game winners in his career and all he had to do was adjust by about a foot.

Steelers all time are 2/11 from 50+yards at Heinz Field. They haven't made a 50 yard+ kick there since 2010.

Hell, they are 49/78 from 40-49 there. (63%). If you take out the first 2 years (with probably the worst grass in NFL history) it goes up only to 39/57 (68%)

So they can cut Scobee but it really is not going to change things IMO.

It's more than just kicker accuracy. Natural grass is harder to kick long off of, and into the wind off natural grass is a low percentage kick even for a good kicker. That's why I said the Steelers were foolish to receive on the coin toss..their offense had been sputtering the entire half and their kicker was poor. They would have been better off getting the breeze at their back and helping the lousy kicker.

I agree FG was wrong call. But THAT pass? Ouch.
Agree; THAT pass play call was the worst call of the game IMO. A punt would have made more sense than that garbage.

Scobee is at 62% from 50+ in his career. What do you think the probability was of them converting a 4th and 1 (assuming you can call any play you want)?

Good thing they didn't try for the game winner and missed. Would have given the Ravens too good of field position

This. Couldn't agree more. Embarrassing. How does Haley not play to Vick's strength by throwing at least 3 or 4 deep balls? Just bad preparation and execution except for Bell who looks awesome.

Oh, that's all? You should have told him that before the 4 kicks he's missed so far this year. He sucks. All kickers lose it eventually.

Tomlin clearly had more confidence in Vick than in Scobee. What he didn't realize was that this was Sophie's Choice. It was like choosing what to scrub your balls with, a cheese grater or a belt sander.

NFL average on 4th and 1 is 62.7%.

And keep in mind that is from teams that do NOT have Mike Vick as their QB.

Grass. Wind. Cut those odds in half at least.

Tucker's kick longest on that field in FIVE YEARS!

5. You can't forget the extra point he bricked in week 2.

I completely support Pittsburgh going for it both times. But their run game was dominating and they wanted to keep the clock going. How can you not put the game in the hands of your best player?

Looked like they were trying to but Vick threw the pass to the peanut vendor in section 106 instead.

Because the Ravens were expecting it...duh
