Baltimore at Pittsburgh (1 Viewer)

That Brown effort is legendary. And not just because I had money riding on it. Watching it in slow mo, he's stuffed with two guys leaning in him and his legs somehow stay locked. And when he comes up, one guy is still on him with a hand inside his helmet jerking his head to the side and he still gets the ball in. That's a level of compete that I just plum don't see that often.

It doesn't count on a extra point. I found a guide for staticians on line.

I can't find anything about a snap on a FG.

If they count that as a fumble I'm going to lose a championship.

So the argument is because it was a field goal try it isn't a fumble?  If he would have thrown an int on a broken play that would count as an int for defensive scoring.  Hoping this gets adjusted to a fumble soon

I think it would just count as 4th down stop in regards to fantasy scoring. Don't think it counts as a fumble because I don't think the opposition is allowed to advance it.

But I can't find anything that specifically says that.

They could have taken that fumble back for a td ... Just like if it was a regular play snap fumble

If it is not a fumble, it would be because no offensive player ever had possession, making it an aborted snap rather than a fumble.  Not sure which way it would be scored...would need to rewatch the tape.

The holder never controlled it.

It bounced off his hand and Pittsburgh fell on it.
That would be an aborted snap, and isn't scored as an offensive fumble.  In many IDP leagues though, it is scored as a fumble recovery though...probably going to depend on the host and scoring system, league by league.

From NFL.com:

4-21-PIT 27 (14:12) (Field Goal formation) S.Koch Aborted. M.Cox FUMBLES at PIT 35, recovered by BAL-R.Wagner at PIT 30. R.Wagner to PIT 30 for no gain (S.Davis).

Cox is the snapper...guess it makes sense that he gets credited as a fumble...should be a score for the team D, fantasywise then...

They are saying Baltimore recovered it. I didn't remember it that way. Pretty sure it grazed off the holders hand and a Pittsburgh guy just fell on it.

Guess I'm going to lose a championship if they change it. When does everything become officially in the book?

Thursday morning at 10AM is when Elias releases official stats, unless they've changed it up.

I think I found the applicable part of the NFL staticians guide. Apparently it's a quirk in how they score a that type of play. It gets scored as own fumble recovered even if the other team falls on it. Makes no sense to me really.

1) If player holding the ball juggles it long enough to prevent kicker from making an attempt, the play is scored as an aborted play. Charge ball holder with a rush for 0 yards, and yardage lost as fumble yardage, plus a fumble and his own fumble recovered.
