Baltimore RB...who has best stats at year end? (1 Viewer)

Pierce looked woefully ineffective and I have to imagine Forsett has been on three different teams in three years for a reason. He's quick and has good hands but I don't know if he's built to carry the mail. ATM I'd still bet on Forsett, especially in PPR but Taliaferro has some sneaky stash appeal. He's a bowling ball and could end up being used at the GL. Maybe Kubiak ends up working his magic on Taliaferro, he seems like a good fit for his system.

Taliaferro is very intriguing in dynasty and as a stash play in deep roster leagues.

Only because he's a friend of my daughter and her boyfriend. Taliaferro. :excited:

just better not blow up on Thursday. <_<

Forsett. Familiarity with system, trust from Kubiak...Pierce is always banged up and already has a concussion, he wont last the season.

Other than the fumble (great strip by Burfict by the way), was Pierce really that bad? Here's his other carries:

3, 3, 6, 6, -4.

In the first half Forsett had carries of 2 and 5 yards.

Wondered the same thing. A lot of people were high on Pierce going in to 2014 (even talking 50/50 split with Rice) and after 6 carries he's garbage?

Full Injury History Bernard Pierce
SEASON LEAGUE INJURY ANALYSIS

 • 2014 NFL Head Pierce left a preseason game with a concussion
 • 2013 NFL Shoulder Pierce tore his rotator cuff during the season and had surgery to repair it in the offseason
 • 2012 NFL Head Left the game against Denver Broncos after taking a hit to the head and suffering a concussion
 • 2011 College Head Suffered a concussion which resulted in him missing 1 game
 • 2010 College Leg Pierce injured his hamstring in the first play of the game and had to leave the field. Ended up missing the following game
 • 2010 College Ankle High ankle sprain on his right ankle. Missed 2 games
 • 2009 College Shoulder Bernard Pierce sprained his left shoulder - re-aggravating it twice in the same season and causing him to miss 4 games

Agree with this, but I'm wondering about the Kubiak connection and if that might make him more likely to get more time.
It undoubtedly has an impact. I've been super impressed with Forsett at times, especially when he was in SEA but that was like 4-5 years ago. Ultimately however, he's a 29 year old, 5'8 197 pound scatback. He's going to get touches initially, but based on Kubiak's history if I were a betting man I'd be looking towards Pierce and Talaiferro as they fit the profile of backs who've had success in Kubiak's system. Talaiferro seems like a long-shot but we don't know exactly how short Pierce's leash is right now. I'll say right now that at the very worst, Talaiferro is simply a fumble/injury/poor Pierce performance away from becoming fantasy relevant, and because of that he's very much worth the stash.

Acquire Pierce now. Let all the kneejerk reactors go after Forsett.

Either way, Pierce will be in the picture. So, absent any injury, those other guys will at best be part of a timeshare. Pierce is the best bet to become and RB1.

Pierce had 6 carries against a tough defense. The unfortunate thing here is that Baltimore can't seem to run-block. As such, we might be looking at a worthless backfield for fantasy purposes.

But I think it's wise to wait this out, grab whoever you can and see what happens as the defenses get easier.

DId you see the snap counts yesterday?

Ravens need to trade for Mark Ingram asap. New Orleans won't mind, they can bring up some other undrafted free agent rb to plug in their RBBC.

How is Pierce available?? When drafting, you knew Rice was gone at least 2 games..

I'm in 4 leagues and Pierce was drafted in every single one of them...

Forsett is the Benjarvus Green-Ellis, Earnest Graham, Olandis Gary, Steve Slaton, whomever else of this year. Book it.

It's all shaping up for it. Bizarre situation leads to him getting carries, Kubiak's proficiency with running offenses, little else on the team to impede his ascension to the top of the depth chart.

Relax people, Pierce is still the go to guy in Baltimore unless he fumbles again in the next game. I don't know why coaches play mental games like that though. It's not like Pierce meant to fumble, it just happens and from here on out, that's gonna be on his mind consciously and unconsciously.

Pierce was benched after his fumble. He had 4 carries for 18 yards before he got stopped in the backfield for a 4 yard loss that he didn't have a chance on.

Both of his bad plays - 4 yard loss and fumble were caused by great plays by Burfict.

Completely agree. Harbaugh is a stand-up guy for the most part and went over to talk with Pierce after the game. A guy like that is not going to take someone's job away after his first career fumble which came by way of one of the NFL's best and most aggressive linebackers.

This was his FIRST career fumble. Seems like a bit of a harsh reaction by Harbaugh.
Harbaugh's a #####, you can ruin players by doing what he is doing. Can you imagine if he were to be Adrian Peterson's coach? AD would be benched for some scrub due to his fumbling issues.

"Acquire Pierce" does not have to mean pick him up on waivers. His value was at it's lowest point yesterday. Obviously, things changed today with the Rice news, but a lot of people are thinking he lost the job to Forsett. In my opinion, now is a good time to get him at a discount.

agreed I like Forsett.. Always thought he was shifty and a good ppr back... I think he is decent size around 200 I believe. Pierce looked slow and ineffective and def not as good of a wr as Forsett

I'd bet you didn't watch him and are just assuming he looked slow due to box score. He only had 6 carries, had a few solid runs and a few bad ones. Not much to go on.

If Baltimore keeps throwing the ball this much it won't matter who the RB is.

I just watched him on Game Rewind and he looked fine - 4.5 YPC on his first 4 carries. Forsett also looked good so I expect RBBC.

Problem w/ Pierce is..early 2 down thumper cut of the Alf/Ridley mode...in ppr he is flex asset but not much more. Sure, Fosett has job for now...but weve all seen his act. Good scatback type but is older. Has limited mileage on the tires and familiar w/ Kubiak ...both positives...I woulndt mind having him on my roster, but im not going to break the bank on FAB to secure. Seems like safer play is to target Taliafero as a possible lotto ticket for later im season

Only thing that worries me about Pierce is his relation with Harbaugh. The benching can't strictly be due to that fumble. It's not like he had fumble issues in the past. He's only 23, in his prime, has been in the system for the past two years.

So my question is why did Harbaugh bench him for the whole game. Doesn't make sense...

Forsett is an interesting guy, by the stats. He's always had a solid YPC throughout his career. He's also rarely gotten the chance to get a lot of carries over the course of a season. Why? I don't know, frankly, my memory on the guy just isn't that good.

All in all, Forsett could be quite valuable in ppr leagues if he can stay healthy. I think this is an rbbc in the mold of most teams these days. Forsett gets receptions and 10-15 carries, and Pierce gets 15-18 carries and goalline carries.

Probably a gameplan thing. The Ravens were down and needed points. Feisty Dline. Getting 3-4 yards a pop wasn't gonna cut it. Again, I wouldn't worry much. Pierce will get carries this year.

On the whole system issue, IIRC, the buzz outta camp was Pierce was the best looking back and was doing very well in the system. So I'm not sure the Forsett-knows-the-system is a huge deal. It's not like Pierce wasn't figuring it out.

Pierce is available in my league. How? Cuz I dropped him last night for Dwayne Allen before the Rice video broke.

There is a guy named Pierce who started just yesterday.

Is it really hard for people to see that the Fumble was what got him benched. Forsett is a journeyman and a scrub.

70 yards and a TD is not world beating. People never learn.

Good luck picking the right one, I'm staying away from this hot mess. I hope those who drafted Rice weren't counting on him as a RB2.

Not RB2 but RB3 and would be my weekly flex starter in 16 Teamer. I was soooo happy when he fell to me, and now... well not so much.

Was just watching the presser on ESPN2, when asked "Who will be the starting running back on Thursday?" Harbaugh, without hesitation said "Bernard" but quickly followed it up with "and Forsett". He topped it off with "Lorenzo Talaiferro will get a lot of work too.". This really may be a situation to absolutely avoid, buy hey, Pierce's name was mentioned first so that's something I guess.

Not like he's gonna let the Steelers know who to prepare for. Better to say they'll all play.

Oof, hate it when that happens.
