Baltimore street collapse caught on video (1 Viewer)

I worked a couple of blocks from that scene. CRAZY! Jones Falls runs right near there, probably eroded it out from beneath.

There are train tracks that the debris fell on. It's no surprise that the city is trying to blame the train company, CSX for the failing infrastructure.

I was saying yesterday that this video is one of the most Baltimore things I've ever seen/heard. A wide range of ages and races hanging out and talking - hipsters, a redneck, and the African-American lady - all complaining that they'd been telling the City for years about the impending disaster, only to get no response whatsoever. Followed by a real-time depiction of Baltimore's infrastructure literally crumbling before their eyes.

Not to mention the lady then totally freaking out.

The visual metaphor of the cop walking by and doing absolutely nothing right before the collapse is just the cherry on top. The whole thing is so awesome.

It's funny because tt's true. I lived in the Baltimore area for 7 years during and after college. That city is such a mess. Between the crime, poverty, poor infrastructure, crappy streets, etc. I just don't understand how a major city can fall apart.
