Baltimore's Offense. (1 Viewer)

Somebody has to be the play here. It's probably a given that Torrey Smith will be more targets but with the injury to PItta things get murky. Personally, I like Tandon Doss but haven't heard much from him. I don't see Jacoby Jones being much more than a poor man's Mike Wallace stat-wise.

Does Ray Rice get a bump? I mean if were in-charge of this offense, I would be feeding the ball to Ray Rice. If they can get the running game going, we'll probably see an effective play-action which will open things up for the burners on the outside (Smith and Jones).

What do you personally see happening? Is it possible that Torrey Smith and Ray Rice will be the only fantasy talents on this roster? I don't need Joe Flacco to win my championship, so I'm not worried about him.

Being from Baltimore, I feel that I have a very good understanding of the team. Despite Joe Flacco's contract and how they opened it up under Caldwell, it's still a run first offense. Ray Rice is still going to get his 20-25 touches, but Bernard Pierce is the real deal and is going to fight for double digit touches per game. And, if the Rice struggles like late last year, Pierce could even get a bigger share of carries because he was a much better runner down the stretch. Rice is still the third down back as he has one of the best hands in the game and is a monster in space.

Torrey Smith, with Boldin and Pitta gone, is going to have a good year, because he has to. He is going to get elite 150+ targets. Jones will will more of the deep guy, where I see Smith doing less 9 routes because he runs better routes than Jones does. I like Doss to be the possession receiver, but no one here in Baltimore really knows. People here like Thompson and Streeter as the WR3, but I don't see them getting much playing time.

I've also seen Dickson getting a lot of hate with Pitta going out. Most people don't know but he was actually the higher picked tight end, and for the first year and a half he was ahead of Pitta in terms of production. In 2011 he had 5 TD's and 500 odd yards. With Pitta done, he's going to get a lot of his production. He doesn't have the hands like Pitta, but he's still worth a look in my opinion.

I think the Pitta injury really hurts Flacco, as I think he was poised to have a breakout year with what he did under Caldwell. But, I just don't see him putting up 4000 yards with the lack of weapons. He's going to be in the QB 13-16 range as he has been throughout his career.

So it occurs to me that maybe some aspects of the Baltimore offense are possibly being overlooked.

This is now OC'd by Jim Caldwell, they won the NFL Championship, in the process after Caldwell took over Flacco was nearly perfect, Jacoby Jones became a big play receiver and Ray Rice found his place in the run game again.

- There was talk earlier in the year of Ray Rice getting some time in slot.

- Boldin is gone. I think this is actually addition by subtraction, maybe like the SJax move in StL, the Ravens become faster, younger, more unpredictable.

- I'm a little surpised there hasn't been more talk about Jones. After what he did in the Denver game & SB I thought he might be more of a FF focus. Not so much.

- Boldin and Pitta being out means that there is a good deal of points to be had. Jones and Smith both have never impressed me as being particularly reliable on the short to intermediate routes. That has got to be a combination of Rice, Stokley and Dickson. Someone is being undervalued here.

- There is also Marlon Moore but by the looks of it he is still the No. 4 WR, until he gets time in over Jones or Smith (not going to happen) then I don't know how he becomes FF worthy.

- Caldwell is the guy who mothered Payton Manning and that Colts offense for years. What happened in the last year in Indy was a bad rap. Someone in the management was calling for Painter to be played almost until the end of the year. Once Orlosvky got in the Colts did relatively well, winning 2 of 5 or something like that, with Dan O.

If people are looking at Reid, Kelly, Trestman, Arians, and Turner as OC, in terms of what they can do in KC, PHI, CHI, AZ, CLE for key FF players whose stock will rise, I think maybe the same thing ought to be looked at in Baltimore.

Yep, he was a free agent in our 12 team, 24 player roster dynasty. Picked him up as I was in need of a WR (Maclin et al.).

I was scrolling through the free agents and was surprised to read his name. Checked if there was an injury I didn't know of, but nothing showed so i took him.

Shouldn't he be the #2 option in the passing game for BAL??

Yes, that's my understanding. - He's going to have some games with some big play TDs. It's going to happen.

Apparently the answer was Marlon Brown, thanks for playing. But I think Jacoby Jones can make some plays this year once he gets back in the mix, that guy is too fast.
