While watching the chiefs game, I asked myself "who is this Jenkins guy?" Totally forgot about aj.
He hit the wire in one of my leagues and I scooped him up. Granted the 49's swapping turds with KC doesn't bode well for his scouted vs. actual talent, but Jenkins was second-round-graded in the draft. You can certainly hold lesser players, and he's about as cheap of an investment as they come. Love that KC gave him some looks last week, hopefully they'll continue to give him spins so we can get a better assessment.

In descending order of interest.

- RB Marcus Lattimore San Francisco (huge potential upside, should be healthy and get his shot next year)

- QB Brian Hoyer Cleveland (successful surgery, reports he's been seen walking around locker room without limp. seems destined to be the starter at the begining of next year even if/when Browns draft a rookie QB)

- TE Travis Kelce Kansas City (really liked him before last year's draft, think he gets his shot next year)

- RB Ahmad Bradshaw (gets completely overlooked but if Trent Richardson continues to struggle I think Ahmad is in the mix next year in Indianapolis, he can do-it-all, run/catch/score if he's healthy)

- WR Charles Johson Cleveland (under-the-radar sleeper with great measurables with huge upside)

- RB Dion Lewis Cleveland (great speed was headed for lots of action before he got injured)

What's the skinny on Charles Johnson?
Probably nothing considering he's a 7th round pick who missed his rookie season, but he's a Julio Jones clone physically and was pretty dominant in small school ball despite running a grand total of two routes most of the time (bubble screens and bombs). So he's got monster ceiling if he hits. The Packers drafted him, he hurt his MCL during camp and missed final cuts, then got added to the Packers' practice squad. The Browns signed him from there and afterwards discovered he had a torn ACL that the Packers had missed.

Unfortunately some rule or other related to prospects signed off other teams' practice squads makes him ineligible for IR, so he has to take up space on your FF roster for now.
I think Cleveland WR Charles Johnson is a very interesting prospect.

6'2 215 lbs and runs a 4.38 forty. Fantastic measurables that were near the numbers that Julio Jones posted at the Combine. Johnson was a bit under the radar due to playing at a small school and he also got suspended and went to three schools which threw up a red flag so he fell in the draft but he's definitely got the size/speed/measureables and was productive when he got his chance in college. Late pick with potential huge upside.

The Browns signed him off of the Packers practice squad so they had to add him to their active roster but it was discovered 'after' he was signed that he had a torn ACL.

Many ripped the Browns because they thought they should have done a standard medical check before they signed him so they thought the signing was a mistake but I disagree vehemently.

If Charles Johnson had a tore ACL with the Pack and Green Bay didn't know it then CJ would have obviously been hindered by that injury yet he still played in the final two preseason games and made their practice squad with the torn ACL.

The Browns have Josh Gordon but the other WR position is open. Greg Little had it but lost his starting job to Davone Bess but both have struggled. Charles Johnson had surgery to fix the ACL and he's going to have a full offseason conditioning and he will know the offense.

He could hit the ground running next year and he 'could' wind up being the starter opposite Josh Gordon. If that happens then Gordon would be the guy that gets game planned for and TE Jordan Cameron would also be a guy to occupy the coverage attention so if CJ got the other starting WR gig he could be positioned for a big sleeper year especially since the Browns will likely address the QB position high in the draft and they'll have QB Brian Hoyer to act as a bridge and they'll also likely go after a RB like Ben Tate in free agency so the only hole left would be the 2nd WR spot. Jes sayin'.

03/16/2013 - 2013 Grand Valley State Pro Day: Grand Valley State's Charles Johnson sprints up draft boards...Charles Johnson was not invited to the NFL Scouting Combine, but his workout Monday in front of NFL scouts representing 24 teams at Grand Valley State's pro day could have the receiver vaulting up draft boards.

Johnson (6-foot-2, 215 pounds) ran the 40-yard dash in 4.38 and 4.39 seconds. He had a 4.31-second short shuttle and 6.96-second three-cone drill. He had a 39 1/2-inch vertical jump and an 11-foot-1 broad jump. He performed 14 lifts of 225 pounds on the bench press. The receivers coaches from the Arizona Cardinals and New York Jets were present in Allendale, Mich. for the workout.

Johnson went under the radar coming out of a Division II program - albeit a powerhouse one - and wasn't able to secure an invitation to the combine. However, scouts certainly took notice when he ripped off a 40-yard dash in 4.38 seconds at his pro day to go along with an impressive all-around workout.

Johnson began his college career at Eastern Kentucky, but he was suspended from the program and landed at Antelope Valley Community College in California before finding his way to Grand Valley State in 2010.

After redshirting in 2010, Johnson was a first-team All-GLIAC performer as a junior, catching 56 passes for 1,030 yards and 15 touchdowns. He build on that in 2012, hauling in 72 passes for 1,199 yards and 16 touchdowns - marks that each ranked fourth in single-season school history annals.

For his career, Johnson ranks second in TD catches (31), fourth in receiving yards (2,229) and 6th in total receptions.

Johnson's pro-day efforts would have placed him among the top performers at the combine in the 40, vertical jump and broad jump. Before his pro day, Johnson had guaranteed that he'd run a 4.39, reports MLive.com. - Gil Brandt, NFL.com

Johnson was highly productive for a D-II powerhouse and then posted pro day numbers that included a 4.38 40, 39 1/2-inch vertical and an 11-foot-1 broad jump drill - numbers that would have placed him among the wide receiver leaders at the combine. Concerns include playing at three different schools in college
I like Johnson as a lottery-ticket type guy, too...but one thing I noticed during the interviews he gave at his pro-day is that he specifically talked about how he had been working with a trainer for months to increase his 40 time. It's not a stretch to imagine that he also had been working to increase his other combine measurables...and while this isn't necessarily a bad thing, it does strike me as a "workout warrior" thing to do that may be inflating his stats to a point that isn't really natural for him once he no longer is focusing on improving his skills in those very specific drills. He's also going to be coming off an ACL injury, so some of that explosion and speed may not be there once he gets back. He did look good in college, and he does have the size/speed combo to be a high-end WR1...but given his injury, situation (much better in GB, could be pushed down depth chart in CLE if they draft a WR with one of their 1sts), and possible skepticism about his pro-day measurables...he strikes me as more of a long shot than underperforming high-round pick guys like Jenkins or Brian Quick.

Is that so unusual? I suspect many top prospects, and even a lot of not-so-top prospects, train to prepare for predraft workouts.

Not so unusual, no...I suspect many prospects do this. But his measurables are getting him compared to Julio, and that's where a lot of the hype about him is coming from. Watching Johnson's college tape, the Julio comparisons don't seem as realistic than if you're just looking at his measurables. Similar small-school size/speed freak Andre Holmes is a decent enough comparison and one that still makes me happy to roster Johnson...but let's not get carried away with the Julio comparisons, that's all.

With millions of dollars riding on where they get drafted, I'm pretty sure that pretty much EVERY prospect with half a brain works his ### off to prepare for the combine. Of course quite a few of them probably don't have two brain cells to rub together, as evidenced by guys showing up out of shape, smoking weed the week before, etc.

The reason I think Charles Johnson 'could' be a decent sleeper is the ACL injury.

We knew about his insane measureables last year but he got injured with the Pack and the point is, Green Bay DIDN'T KNOW he had a torn ACL so the fact that he did not make the final active roster makes sense.

The ACL injury is the primary reason why I'm high on his upside. He still has the mad measureables and he has a shot with the Browns since the #2 WR position seems wide-open and if a guy with his potential wins that job then with Josh Gordon as the #1 WR and with TE Jordan Cameron, the Browns #2 WR position would be set-up well for a young guy with huge upside like CJ to be a legit fantasy football sleeper.

I thought that was the point of this thread, looking for guys flying under the radar with decent upside.

You are spot on that Johnson should be considered a lottery-ticket-type prospect. Johnson's measurables are impressive, regardless of whether they may have been somewhat artificially inflated by his pre-workout training regimen. Charles Johnson is an intriguing Lottery Ticket Dynasty stash, on par with Da'Rick Rogers. He has the physical attributes which could lead to success in the NFL. Those who were down on him for failing to make GB's roster are encouraged that he was hindered by the injury.

Just got Stat Corrected out of my playoff spot (a 0.2 victory turned into a 0.1 loss) so I'm dropping D's and K's to stash players for next year.

So far I picked up Dion Lewis, Brian Hoyer, Latavius Murray, Marlon Brown, Robert Turbin, and old Man Steve Smith who was just dropped. It's a 12 team, Keep 12, 18 man roster league, so it's not deep at all (in case someone's standing by with the patented "boy, none of those guys are on the waiver wire in MY league ;) )

How much 2014 value does Turbin have, since Lynch isn't a free agent and isn't super old? And even in 2015 and beyond is he worth one of 12 roster spots?

Just wondering abt Ryan Williams and Mikel Leshoure 2 who recently were dropped in my leagues... Any thoughts on value down the road?

Leshoure has a chance IMO to recapture some value like Andre brown of these past few seasons once he recovered fully from his Achilles tear

think Williams could be heading to a Beanie Wells type, get a couple of off-season workouts but no signing. Leshoure could be a Brown type but not sure if he worth grabbing and holding unless you got an excess amount of room. I'd bet u could leave him on the WW for the off-season and grab him when he gets a sniff.

Beanie did not get signed because his knee was giving him issues during most of off season and finally he tore his achilles in a workout. If he was healthy he'd have got a job. Other than fact both were disappointment in Arizona mainly due to inability to stay healthy I don't see the similarity.

Both of these guys are contractually obligated for one more season with their current teams so unless they get off the roster neither projects to have much value. So that's the first step that needs to happen for any of them to have value next year. Mendy and Bell are both FA's but I think we've seen it won't matter because the staffs have gone to other options when injuries occurred.

I don't play in a keeper format, but they may be able to keep 18 (or more?) on their roster until it is time to declare their keepers, probably sometime during the preseason, then draft out of the rest. In which case it is worth holding anybody with a pulse, just in case...

Just in case a Lynch, who is not difficult for Seattle to drop in 2014, and with possible legal issues (DUI), ends up out of the Northwest. Then Turbin is a possible starter on a very good team.

Exactly. It's Keep 12 but we can hold 18 though the off-season until around a week or so into the pre-season. It'll take something special to happen for any of these guys to make my 12 keepers but they all seem like pretty good lottery tickets. Heck, trade value at least if one semi-hits.

Bit intrigued by Edwin Baker - CLE. Not b/c I know jack about him, but he could potentially see a good amount of playing time and make a mark in Cleveland's last couple of games. And if not, can be dumped.

Picked up Ingram on a wimb, I figure he moves on next year and has a chance to win out an RBBC. Ertz as well, he could be nice in the Chip Kelly offense with Foles.
Ingram has been running like a man possessed in recent weeks. I love that fire. I didn't catch the game yesterday, but he was the lead back by a good margin and his stat line looked good. Really seems like a great dynasty flyer.

How about Ryan Griffin? I think Owen Daniels and Garrett Graham are both free agents.
Owen is due 4.5 million. If Texans go in rebuild mode, can't see them paying that to a near 32 year old TE who's wearing down
