***Baseball Playoff Question*** (1 Viewer)

turn or burn
162 games in the regular season and the first series is only 5 games? The series (5 games) represents only 3% of the entire regular season; whereas in hockey for instance, the 1st series is 7 games, which represents 8.5% of the regular season. Throw in the fact that there are only 4 playoff teams per league vs 8 per conference in hockey, and it really seems the ALDS/NLDS should be 7 games, with the ALCS/NLCS being 9 games. Anyone else consider this before or have an explanation as to why this is the case?

I think there's too many teams in the playoffs. You can't figure out who the best team is over 162 games?

I think we should go back to the old way and only 2 teams from each league make the playoffs.

I love the hockey playoffs, but they have way too many teams in. They should knock it back to 4 per conference. Same with basketball.

If it ain't broke...(Actually, with the season already stretching into late fall, extending it would be a horrible idea.)

It is broke. It's a piss-poor solution to determining which team is the "best" in the majors, going to best of 7 makes it a little less bad.I'd like to see them go best of 9 for all series'.
