I need this answer to win a free 30 GB IPod in work.....(some raffle)

Game-winning RBI was first adapted as an official statistic in 1979.Who led the Boston Red Sox in GWRBI that year?

TIA.

Perhaps... but if you look back at the people who were among the leaders, it seems to gain some credibility.
I just didn't like how they did it, I mean, isn't this the way they did it?ARod knocks in the first run of the game... They Yankees they get up 12-0, where RBI 12 was knocked in by Abreu...The Red Sox then score 11 runs and lose 12-11... ARod would get the GW RBI because that put them ahead to stay for good...

That is how I think they did it. I thought that this was a totally bogus stat at the time. I am glad that they did away with it.

Those who get a lot of RBIs tend to be good players on good teams, but it is not always the case. The problem with an RBI is that it is too situationally dependent to be a good indicator of player value, a game-winning RBI even more so.
