Bear Week! (1 Viewer)

The Bears are headed for the throes of 5-11 or 6-10 largely because of a defensive collapse precipitated by Lovie Smith's destructive moves. He basically forced coordinator Ron Rivera to leave, promoted linebackers coach and college roommate Bob Babich to replace him, fired defensive line coach Don Johnson and hired first-year NFL assistants to coach the D-line (Brick Haley) and linebackers (Hardy Nickerson).

Now the Bears have a defensive-oriented head coach with a long-term contract who helped ruin his own defense and isn't suited to coach offense.

Ouch.

Needless to say - looking forward to avenging one of the two Packer losses this week... :goodposting:

Bob McGinn is an idiot if he thinks these moves, especially Ron Rivera, made one bit of difference this year. The problem was they decimated the DT position by releasing Tank, and letting Boone and Scott get away. Last year they were they deepest in the league at the position, this year all they had was a one-legged Tommie Harris. Replacements for those that left were either hurt or ineffective and most of them fell into both catagories by season's end.

Throw in the annual Mike Brown injury and the offensive's inability to sustain a drive and this is what you get.

what's the weather forcast for this weeks' game? That's the only thing that could keep it close IMO.

For Favre's sake, I hope the Packers don't say/do anything dumb to make the Bears mad this week. They have absolutely nothing to play for. Giving that defense a reason to get P.O.'d and the fans at Soldier field a reason to not sit on their hands in the cold would not be a good idea.

Basically, they're playing for what little pride they have left. Taking down the Packers (even it means nothing) would be fun, but I really don't think they will be very charged for the game...unless someone gives them a reason to be. (And this coaching staff can't).

Lose a pro bowl CB (vasher) a pro bowl caliber safety (mike brown)... and your starting DT... play entire games without your starting secondary... have the only linebacker that hasn't missed a game struggling with a sore back...

and well, this is what happens.

Bears looked a bit better with Nathan Vasher in the lineup... I think Chicago picks up win #2 against the Yackers.

DABEARS!

I actually think we may see the opposite here. Green Bay sounds pissed about the Pro Bowl voting. A little extra bump for this week's game?http://www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=698252

"I guess people are overlooking us," Driver said. "I think a lot of guys are upset that they didn't go. A lot of guys are mad. If you look around this locker room, there should have been at least nine or 10 guys who should've went."

"I think if you're winning games and proving that you're the best, then those are the guys who should be in there," said Driver, who also included receiver Greg Jennings in the overlooked group. "Right now, you look at all those guys that didn't make it, they should be in."

Barnett lost out to Lofa Tatupu of the Seahawks and rookie Patrick Willis of the San Francisco 49ers. According to NFL.com, Willis leads the league with 142 tackles. Barnett is fourth in the NFC with 119, and Tatupu is 12th with 101. But according to the tally that Packers coaches derived from game film, Barnett has 153.

"I think he's had an amazing year," Driver said. "For him not to go, it's kind of frustrating."

Woodson, who also lost out to Marcus Trufant of the Seahawks and Dallas' Terence Newman, won the fan voting for the NFC at cornerback. That means Woodson struggled in the coach and player balloting.

"Do I think that 'Wood' is better than the other corners? Yes, I do," said Harris, who was selected for the first time in his 10-year career. "That's nothing against Newman and Trufant. The guys are good corners. But if you're asking my opinion, that's my opinion."

If Jennings had been named a first alternate, Driver said he might have stayed home so Jennings could go.

"I think we both deserve to go," said Driver, who is going for the second straight year and third overall. "So I'm mad that he didn't get in, because he should've gotten in. I think he's second (among) receivers (in the NFC) in touchdowns. And you don't get in? That's sad."

I find that extremely ironic considering Driver made the Pro Bowl and he's not even the best WR on his own team (Jennings). I wish NFL players would simply shut the hell up and quit #####in' because they lost a popularity contest. Pro Bowls are a joke and people who whine over missing them are ridiculously petty.Back to the game Green Bay desperately needs a win to stay in the homefield advantage hunt against Dallas. I truly think whoever represents the NFC in the Super Bowl will be the team who played the NFC championship game at home. I'd love to see the Bears post a win but honestly they have been mailing it in for weeks now. I see the poopy packers taking this one 27 - 13 with the Green Bay starters sitting for the 4th quarter.

Good luck down in Dallas Mr. Pack. Most MEAT HEAD Bears fans say: "I don't care if we make the playoffs, as long as we sweep the Packers."I'm not from that same ilk.Jamar Williams gave me reason for optimism today. Good bye Lance Briggs. Even though Brian Urlacher has been playing with a bad back, he has out-sacked, out-intercepted, out-tackled and out-TD'd your overrated #### this year.Like I said Mr. Pack - good luck in the playoffs. Go Pack!
