Bears DE Mark Anderson (1 Viewer)

If you're looking for a high upside pick the next two weeks, consider picking up DE Mark Anderson. He will be facing the Eagles and Lions over the next two weeks...the two teams that give up the most sacks in football. We all saw what Osi Umenyiora did against the Eagles. Anderson could be next.

I'm torn on him this week as an owner and Eagles fan. Thomas is back at tackle so I don't see them having the same proble as they did against the Giants. I'm keeping him on my bench but I'm a homer

Outside of the Giants debacle where Winston Justice playing for the injured Thomas 12 sacks, the Eagles have given up 10 sacks in 4 games that is not awful

Have the same problem as a Bear fan, and a McNabb owner. ;) I'm playin him. Start your studs, man.

I'm glad I made the right decision and put in Hali over him, got that 1 extra tackle :) :lmao:

With all that is being said, he is a very good play next week against Detroit. 2 sacks last time they played

I'd started Charles Grant this week and glad that I did. Anderson is too inconsistent for me to put in weekly head-to-head.

Anderson is basically a situational pass rusher. With the Bears DE rotation his tackle numbers are mediocre at best. I would avoid him unless you play in a big play league.Jene - of the Bears DL's, which one (if any) does the most damage this week vs DET (Harris, Ogunleye, Anderson or Brown)?None stand out to me (I actually like Harris the best) but I must admit, I do subscribe to the DL vs Detroit theory.

That said, Umenyiora is available in my league and likely my first choice.
:shrug:Illegal procedure.

Brown making up ground on Anderson

October 30, 2007

BY BRAD BIGGS bbiggs@suntimes.com

Everything is open for scrutiny during the bye week, even starting jobs, Lovie Smith said.

While he didn't hint any moves were coming, the evaluation process of everything from schemes to personnel is ongoing, and one player who ought to come out of the loss to the Detroit Lions in decent shape is backup defensive end Alex Brown.

The veteran turned in one of his better games of the season in recording a season-high eight tackles to go with his second sack in the last three games. Opponents had been running roughshod over Mark Anderson, who essentially was given the job in the spring over Brown, who had started for four straight seasons. It appeared that Brown's playing time was up slightly, and that could be a sign of things to come.

''I know a lot of people are going to say it's Detroit,'' Brown said after the game. ''But they're a good team, they've played well enough to beat us twice. We're going to have to start saying it's not the old Detroit, I guess, or we're just not the Bears that we were last year or have been the past couple years or something, I don't know.''

This might be just what Anderson needs. Go back to a 15-20 play situational pass rusher. More value in big play leagues, obviously, but Anderson finished 23rd overall in FBG scoring last year.

Backus has really picked up his game since the bye, mostly due to his rib injury healing. Anderson had a couple of chances for sacks, but in general was quiet. The Lions pass protection is much better, largely due to Backus being healthy, and even more important, due to Kevin Jones running the ball as well as he has. The defenses can't tee off like they did earlier in the year.

I will be interested to see if Anderson has more success with fewer snaps. I am betting he will since he will be fresher. He was a terror in the first Lions-Bears game, but a non factor last week.
