GREAT NEWS!!!

I don't have an official link, but I just heard the live press conference on the radio. Jerry Angelo & Tank both spoke and he will be suspended one game. Jerry said his options were to cut him from the team or suspend him one game and chose the latter.

He'll be back in time for the playoffs. PHEW ...

I'm glad they didn't cut him, but they should sit him for the rest of the season, including the playoffs. 1 game sounds like a slap on the wrist to me.

That's what some of the radio guys are saying as well ...Angelo said all they know is he violated his probation by having illegal guns in his home or whatever. There's no official evidence linking him to his bodyguard having pot or the death of his bodyguard. So basically, for violating probation they suspended him one game.It could have been worse, but ultimately it comes down to the business of winning football games, and with the DT position already depleted, they're better off with him playing.

Football-wise, I agree that it is better for the Bears to have him play in the playoff's. I just think the punishment for basically telling them to go F*** themselves, by going to the bar that night, should be harsher than it is. I'm not worked up about it, just thought it should be more.

I was thinking he may be suspended 2 games. This way, it would look a lot more harsh, but he would still be back in time for the playoffs. I was a bit surprised when they said only 1 game.

I think if JA and management had their way they would have layed the smackdown on Tank fo-sho. But with the CBA and whatnot, their options were limited.

Once Tank has had his day in court and they rule on his probation violation, etc. , the league will mete out additional punishment.

Am I reading this wrong or are you saying he's suspended for having guns in his home? That makes me wonder how many NFL players, with all their riches, have guns in their homes.Or is it the violating probation?Why does the NFL suspend him for that? Seems like the time to suspend him would have been when he committed a crime to be put on probation, no?

I was under the understanding that under the new CBA, teams werent allowed to make suspensions like this, it was up to the league? Or did it only address indefinate suspensions like TO's? Did Tank actually break any team rules?

Secondly I heard reports that his original probation for gun possession had ellapsed, so he might be off the hook for that one. But possession of a weapon without a FOID card in Illinois isnt a joke either.
