Bears-Ravens kickoff shifted to 4:15 p.m. ET

Updated Dec. 18, 2009 @ 4:27 p.m.

The start time for this Sunday's Bears-Ravens game in Baltimore has been shifted back from a 1 p.m. ET kickoff to 4:15 p.m., the NFL announced today.

:hophead:

I heard this is due to heavy snowfall forecasted.

I'm looking for a sleeper DST to start and I was wondering if this type of weather might make Bears a viable unit (they're on the ww), maybe with the teams becoming one dimensional with the run, turnovers, etc.

Thoughts?

The snow is supposed to be long gone by kickoff. Assuming the field crew is competent, this could be a non-issue. The only thing I guess I'm worried about is Ray Rice arriving safely to the stadium.

:banned: They're calling for 20-30" but the storm is supposed to be over sometime tomorrow morning. The field should be in pretty good shape by 4:00.

Just reported on WJZ in Baltimore that the Bears did not make it to Baltimore on Friday evening as planned.

ETA: BWI is open and operating though.

I also heard the reports on the local news. On the local NBC channel 11 news, they are reporting that "Bear Force One" did not arrive at BWI airport on Friday night as originally planned and they have no idea when they will arrive. Apparently they sat on the plane from 10:30pm until 12:30am before deciding to deboard and not leave Friday night for Baltimore. From the forecasts, it sounds like they'll be able to get here on Sunday morning so it is a good thing that they did move the game time back.

It doesn't seem like the Bears will be able to get into BWI until early Sunday. Can anyone remember similar circumstances in the past?

Snowstorm cancels Bears' flight to Baltimore

The Bears tried to beat the snow in Baltimore, but they got sacked by Mother Nature.

With 10-20 inches of snow expected to fall this weekend, the team moved its flight from Saturday afternoon to Friday night. But the Bears never made it to Baltimore.

They boarded their charter at O’Hare at 10:30 p.m., and then sat on the plane before the flight was canceled at 12:30 a.m. because the snowstorm had arrived earlier than expected. The Bears bused back to Halas Hall, arriving at 1:15 a.m., and will attempt to fly to Baltimore late Saturday.
 nice planning by the Bears ... blaming it on "Mother Nature" ... sounds like the Bears are as good at reacting to weather forecasts as they are at playing football this seasonand there is no way they get in on Saturday night since the snow will not be stopping until Sunday morning

As you said great planning by the Bears.

I heard the 49ers flew into Phily Thursday as I guess someone there watches the Weather Channel.

Have not heard anything just speculating but could this game maybe be moved to Monday night. I mean I live in Baltimore and it is coming down and not expected to stop till later Saturday night early Sunday morning. I doubt the Bears will be flying in today

Great...the Bears will be exhausted from travel and will be unable to implement their final game plan preparation.

Should be a Ravens blow out....

There game plans suck anyways, so it might be a good thing if the just "wing it." Either way baltimore should beat the bears by 14+.

I heard on a local jam station in Chicago that it might be in the morning!

Lovie has the team running off the bus I wonder what he has in store when getting off the plane

I been wondering what my league would be forced to do, should game be canceled. Not likely. But, still, something to think about. 9/11 was a mess for fantasy schedules, and games have been moved in recent years. There was a game a few years back that got moved to a different week, due to a hurricane or other big weather event. That's not an option here, though.

I wouldn't be surprised at all to see this game pushed to Monday.

(I'd ratehr see it played in the snow, as I'm starting the Baltimore defense.)

Quick Question for the Baltimore homers - I just heard that the Eagles field has an underground heating system that will insure that the field will be free of ice and snow tomorrow (assuming the snow lets up by game time)

Does the field in Baltimore have anything similar?

Seems like the logical - and maybe only probable - scenario. If the Bears get in morning, IF, that is, then how can you have anything close to a fair playing field that day? I see a Monday nighter. My dad, who lives in Baltimore, said they need to shovel 20 MILLION pounds of snow?

I heard the Bears did leave for Baltimore. I heard it on the radio. Not 100% sure on it, but that's what they said.

I don't know if M&T has that heating system or not, but the field should be fine in any case. The snow stopped here around midnight & it's not bitter cold. I saw on the news they're using 700+ prison inmates to shovel out the seating area.I think I heard the Bears got in around 11:30 Saturday night.
