Bears vs. Giants Game Thread (1 Viewer)

I can't wait for Mike Martz to get fired. And it will be interesting if the Bears ever get a receiver. All of the Bears receivers suck. Roy Williams is a complete waste.

Thomas torn ACL per Kolber.
Which Thomas?
Terrell Thomas, NYG CBTerrell Thomas - DB - Giants Giants coach Tom Coughlin revealed at halftime of Monday night's preseason game that RCB Terrell Thomas is out for the season with a torn ACL.It's a crushing blow, especially with Prince Amukamara (foot) out until mid- to late-September and incumbent dime back Bruce Johnson (Achilles) done for the year. Thomas, who was in a contract year, led the G-Men in tackles (101) and interceptions (5) last season, also forcing four fumbles. Aaron Ross, a possible trade candidate entering training camp, will have to be a starter now. Thomas' reconstructive knee surgery will cripple his 2012 market value. This will be a secondary to target for fantasy matchup purposes.

I commented on this in "another" thread - but Roy Williams looked ungood tonight. He was targetted on consecutive 3rd down plays - and failed to come up with either. He's the 2011 version of Brandon M. - a Martz guy who doesn't have it anymore (if he ever did). He's getting no separation and his hands look Garcon-like.

Cutler on the other hand, looked very good (when he had time to throw). The announcers were commenting (Jaws specifically) about how Cutler has obviously worked on his footwork and was planting and stepping into his throws (at one point hitting Hester between the "2" and "3" in stride 35 yards downfield). Sadly, for Cutler, he doesn't get time all that often and, as evidenced in a few plays tonight, hitting a guy in the numbers (whther it's 23 or 11) doesn't mean he'll actually catch it. Only Bennet seems to have NFL-WR-caliber functioning hands.

Chester Taylor had no burst, speed or vision. His longest run was 3 yards. IMHO, he should be on the roster bubble. With this coaching staff, however, sound, well-reasoned personel decisions are few and far between.

Barber looks good. He is a great addition - and could seemingly easily step in if anything happened to Forte (he doesn't seem to have quite the quickness of Forte, but has more power).

The offensive line looked a little better - but Cutler also simply did a better job of getting rid of the ball.

ETA: A few other things - Carimi is the lone bright spot on the O-line - he's the real deal. He was lined up across from Justin Tuck...whose name was not said once in the first half (except when they showed how Carimi was "holding his own against the wiley veteran").

From the land of "no duh!" - I had to watch replays just to make sure the refs weren't letting Peppers line up 3 yards deep in the Giant's backfield...because he was their a lot. He might not have had sacks numbers, but let's just say Eli's hear rate was up quite a few times. For all the grief Jerry Angelo takes (most of it, righfully so) - JA got that one right. Peppers might be the most dominant Bears d-lineman since Danimal (for you youngins, that's HOF, #99 Dan Hampton) - he's a fast as Dent was off the edge, but with the power of Hamp (and his run stopping ability).

I was forced to step away halfway through the 1st quarter. My question is: does this game indicate in anyway how Bradshaw and Jacobs will be used? Is it going to be a 50-50 split, and which one will get the GL looks? tia

you're not pulling this crap in the Pool again this year, are you?

If it's 50/50 and both are healthy I think it's safe to assume the goal line job belongs to Brandon Jacobs.

Great. Then my pick of Bradshaw in the 3rd round was wasted.

 I asked a legitimate question. What's your problem?
last year almost all of your posts were about seeking validation for your draft picks. That is exactly what you are doing here.Edit: I see that you already admitted it above.

In this case you're correct. But I still don't see anything wrong with it. It's not like I'm the only guy in the world who either drafted Bradshaw or is going to draft him.

to tired to post ... but wow the giants looked great tonight. It really sux that TT got hurt.

Linebackers, DBs, RBs, OL and special teams all looked great. Gave up a couple of big plays, they always do, but otherwise nothing.

In this case you're correct.
:lmao: I like you tim, but nobody gives a #### about your fantasy team. It's best to never mention it, even if that's the only reason you're participating in the discussion.
I know that. People care about Bradshaw, that's all. No one cares that I have Bradshaw, but the player is still worth discussing.
 Tim, I've given you a hard time elsewhere, but you're definitely right that Bradshaw is a player that is worth discussing. Sometimes you get picked on unfairly, and this is probably one of those times. You may be the 'Jay Cutler' of the FBGs message board.Full Disclosure:I don't own, nor am I currently thinking seriously about drafting Bradshaw. Last year he was a value pick, this year he's appropriately valued and his ADP reflects that IMO.

I'm actually a big Timmy fan. I think he has been one of the best substantive contributors to the FFA in the last 10 years I've hung out on this site. That doesn't excuse the pissing in the shark pool. At least make an effort to disguise the validation ####.

OK, how's this:I have a close personal friend who drafted Ahmad Bradshaw in the 3rd round last night. Now he's worried that he took him too high, since we're looking at full blown RBBC. Myself, I don't care one way or another, but what should I tell my friend?

Barber is going to steal carries and potentially the starting job from Forte if Forte isn't careful.

I've increased Forte's risk and have lowered his projections.

I don't agree with that. Jacobs had a huge hole to run through and there were only 2 players between him and the endzone, looked like both were DBs. Good run but not a lock for the goal line looks, if anything the fight Bradshaw put up to get the extra 2-3 yards to get the first down on one of his carries looks like what you want from a RB, to get the tough yards.Looked to me Hester could have gone for more yards, maybe even scored on his big catch, instead he ran out of bounds. It's preseason so maybe he would have stayed in bounds if it was real game.

I'd rather take Jones in the 3rd round than Bradshaw at that point based on how this RBBC is shaping up.

One guy has a clear cut advantage in that he's the only guy in town. The other must deal with exactly the opposite.

Knox breakdown plz? Y was he with the scrubs to those who pay more attention to chi for me?
Knox is the 4th WR on the depth chart is why, has Williams, Hester and Bennett ahead of him but will still get lots of playing time
He looked very good, went up and GOT the ball in traffic which people say he doesn't do well. Had a drop in the endzone at the end but likely was out of bounds anyway, hard to say for sure as they didn't replay it.

The only one pissing in this thread is you. His questions actually were about the team and a player. Whatever his motivation was...it was about discussing a player. Your posts were nothing but slams at him.

Forte's abilities to catch the ball in this offense is the reason Barber will not steal as much from him as you think. He will get more goalline for sure. But Forte is too good out of the backfield comparatively for Martz to do this.

Looked to me Hester could have gone for more yards, maybe even scored on his big catch, instead he ran out of bounds. It's preseason so maybe he would have stayed in bounds if it was real game.
Looked to me like Hester smoked his coverage and Cutler underthrew him a little. Hester had to adjust a bit, slow down, and the safety was able to get in position. The reaction of Cutler after the play suggested Jay messed up.I didn't see his name mentioned in the thread, but Mario Manningham was targeted a lot in that first half, and was on the field for NY's red zone possession. Also of note that he dropped two balls that probably should have been caught.
