Behold the Greatness of Victor Wooten (1 Viewer)

I saw Wooten live with Dennis Chambers (from Parlaiment Funkadelic) and Mike Stern (played with Miles Davis). My buddy remarked that Wooten is the best bass player in the world. I chuckled and said, "Yeah...right." Well, he is. There might be guys as good as Wooten, but I've never heard anyone that's better. Jaco Pastorius is the only guy that comes to mind from the last 30 years that's better.

If you can find a video on youtube, or elsewhere from a concert he did in Toronto in 05 or 06 at the opera house.... you'll see him thanking me personally on stage.

will never forget it.

Best bassist ever.

And Jaco is not better. Victor, like his brothers, are aliens from another world. By the way I heard that Victor's book called The Music Lesson is quite good, too.

Watch the wooten "bass lesson" vids on youtube... he's in the Bob Ross realm of soothing, calming voices.

so humble. incredible to be that good but be so humble... guy talks and acts like he knows only 1% of what the bass is capable of

Nice bump.

A couple of years ago, I finally got to see/hear him in the flesh. Smallish sized theater with Bela Fleck and the Flecktones. First row on his side of the stage even! He is incredibly dexterous with amazing technique.
