Ben Roethlisberger (1 Viewer)

It was his first year as a starter, he's still learning the position. He's only going to be better next year.
This is possible as well, but he wasn't a rookie getting used to the speed of the game and picking up the blitz.
He had more carries this year than his entire college career. He's still learning the position.

All he does is win. Thoughts???
He is an excellent QB. No one gets the "best in the NFL" tag without a ring though. It's just a rule.
So if he beats Carolina or Seattle in 2 weeks, Is he the best?
Yes.
Tom Brady down?Big Ben is great, but there's no way I'm putting him ahead of Tom Brady, even after he wins next week.
If I'm starting a franchise, Ben just may now be my top QB.Another thread, but this reminded me of a comment I made.

If I'm a new NFL GM, I want to keep my job for now, which means improving the team each year. I'm taking Palmer, if for no better reason than to be able to improve.

Manning is exceptional, but Palmer isn't that far behind IMO. Plus, Peyton will hurt the cap before Palmer's contract would.

If the question is simply - pick the QB that will have more success for 15 years, it's a toss up.

FWIW, I might take Ben Roethlisberger over either.
Roethlisberger does not deserve to be mentioned here. He is well behind these 2.

Let's be serious - I was not impressed with him today. In the first half when he need to make a play he was way lucky.-Bailey should have returned as easy int for a TD-He threw an int in the end zone but the receiver saved his butt-He threw another ball in the ednzone that went right through a DB's hands. All poor decisions that he ended up on the right side of

I was thinking the same thing, except that he maintained his composure and played very well after those errors. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good, and Ben was both.

The running game used to carry the team and Ben wasn't asked to do that much but you can see that is slowly changing. The Steelers just can't run the ball like they used to and now it doesn't really matter because Ben is starting to take the game into his own hands. Just because they didn't throw the ball alot his first two years doesn't really matter because they will throw it more in the future.

He's a good QB but a terrible fantasy QB. Aikman I would compare him to. A great system that doesnt make the qb make every play.
This is the thinking that will make him a good value in fantasy drafts. I see 25-30 TD passes in his near future.
I can see 20-25, consistently, but I just can't see Cowher turning into Mike Martz. Pittsburgh is at their best playing traditional football. Run the ball well, stop the run well, and be able to throw to balance it out. Great game of Steeler football today.
He was solidly in the top 10 (around #8 in my leagues) in PPG among QBs.Nope, not a good fantasy QB.
I think 20-25 consistently is where he'll be. Isn't that top 10, consistently? do I think he could throw 30 a year? Yes, but I don't see the Steelers changing their philosophy which has worked. Having the great passer opens that up, but I'm still of the opinion that you have to be able to run the ball. Look at the Pats this year. Worst running offense they've had of late, and see where it got them. It was injuries, but you are what you are, and they were bad.
How about Manning?? The best skill players in the NFL. And one of the best defenses this year. Still could not get it done.

I think much of it has to do with the mental makeup of the QB as well as the ability.
I couldn't agree more. Pocket presence is IMHO the #1 thing to look at. MIke Vick has a strong arm, great feet, but no presence. Brady and Ben have okay feet, great presence, and solid arms. The presence overrides all else, and makes them great. And, they're great when they need to be, most of the time.
