Ben Tate (weeks 11-16) (1 Viewer)

The Texans are bad, really bad - Defense is bad, no QB, just not good... Lets say hypothetically they are 4-7 or 3-8 by weeks 11 or 12. Foster is always hobbled by some little stupid injury that keeps him out of practice, but he always plays - As an organization they are aware of how much tread is left on those tires, & as their franchise back they want to preserve as much as possible. If all hope for 2013 is gone, does he miss the last couple of weeks with "pulled calf muscle" or something along those lines?

I draft this turd every year in hopes that he will get his chance and every year he blows it.

Foster is now injured of course its a bye week. It sound like this may be a couple of week injury but of course Tate now has 4 busted ribs.

The bottom line is the guy just does not have it.

He has had opportunities and hasn't produced at nearly the levels that Foster has and he gets injured every time he gets an opportunity.

You talking about the backup RB with four broken ribs on the team that nearly upset KC at home?

Awesome...

Yes, talking about the 2-5 Texans using their third string QB. It was just a thought starter, sometimes it pays to think outside of the box.

This thread was created before the game..

Giving this one a healthy bump :)

I was outside the box on this one.

For Bryce Brown I got a hungry Ben Tate looking for a contract...

Honestly, wouldn't be surprised if Foster is done for ROS - What do they care, they'll run Tate into the ground and he'll do everything possible for that contract!!

Only problem with your theory of "running Tate into the ground" is his 4 broke ribs. Going by thread title (weeks 11-16), if they do that I'll take the under that he can finish that set of games. Of course assuming they indeed run him into ground.

John McClain‏@McClain_on_NFL 2h

The Texans haven't disclosed what's wrong with Arian Foster's back. He could end up having surgery and not playing again this season.

By week 12 (Jaguars) it will have been over a month since he broke his ribs. I don't know how well they are healing with continuing to play but he should be better by then.

Has he not been doing everything possible for that contract up to this point? I like his talent, but I like Fosters talent too so I don't expect to see much of a difference in their overall production. I am also not sure how the whole cracked ribs thing works. Will they heal during the season or are they going to be reinjured every week and only truly heal during the offseason? If the latter then I think his production may be somewhat limited, like vs Indy.

BTW You do realize that Foster is not dealing with a "pulled calf muscle" it looks like he may be dealing with a serious back injury. Did I really need to caveat my first post with "Barring a legitimate injury..."

Isn't this situation similar to how Foster first became fantasy relevant. I recall him getting carries in a late season game and then putting up big numbers in the last weeks of an nfl season....that could happen with Tate or with Dennis Johnson also.....

Really?

You think he is consulting his third back surgeon in as many days because of a "pulled calf muscle"?

People can read through this thread and form their own opinions - The premise of the call was spot on... The fact that you argue shows a personality that will never admit being wrong.

Honestly, I don't really care to argue bc I have a RB2 and it cost me very little.

ESPN Radio said "He's seeking treatment from a specialist in an effort to avoid season-ending surgery".

I love how RW is convinced that Tate won't hold up yet his health is only going to improve from here on out.
Their next writer will come along as label Tate a low-end RB1

Theyre inconsistent as hell, and dont care about it. Whoever is writing just slaps their opinion down til the next one comes along

They are awful!! Yesterday before Foster was declared out he was a RB2... Today with no Foster he is a shaky flex play.

I have no problem admitting I am wrong. I have done it many times on these boards, including in the Foster threads this week (I touted him as a top 5 pick and jumping on Tate early to protect the investment often). But there is a difference between him going down with a season ending back injury and the team shutting him down with a phantom injury to save him for next year (or see what they have in Tate). Big difference actually.

As a Foster/Tate owner I fully recognize, and appreciate, that it appears that the end result will be the same but your premise was off. It is not an insult, or a point of argument it's just a fact.

Sorry if I offended you.

Will it? I don't know how to consider something like four cracked ribs. Will they heal or will the repeated punishment cause the injury to linger until the offseason?

FWIW Bramel says it is a multi week injury but is optimistic that Tate's health will improve "as long as he does not re-injure his ribs"

Made a prediction that landed a starting RB for pennies on the dollar - your exact quote was "never happen" last month. However you want to view it, the end result of the call stays the same...

Cant argue with that... Tate will either get better or he won't. They don't call him Dr. for nothin!

"It was a different part of the body that was injured, so obviously there was no merit to the prediction" - Chaka
