I really thought Ben Watson was going to be special this year. I was wrong.

I would love for someone who has watched the Patriots all year tell me why he is only catching a little over 50% of his catches this year. He has been targeted 67 times this year. The only other tight end with more targets this year is Mr. Winslow with 71 (I think). Of those 67 times Watson has been thrown to only 34 have been caught. Is this guy dropping passes or is Brady just not putting them inbetween the numbers?

I wondered the same thing when I saw his stats - and I've watched a lot of the Pats.

From what I saw, it was a combo - he's often one of Brady's hot reads or primary targets when rushed and the throw is simply off.

However, I have seen many passes to Watson simply bounce off his fingers. That is inexcusable.

With Calwell emerging, and Graham returning (he had 3 targets versus 5 for Watson - previous weeks, all 8 targets would have been Watson's - when Graham was there before being injured, he stole a lot of targets from Watson), I am losing hope for Watson kicking me more than 6 fantasy points a week.

I certainly bought the hype - I had Watson as the #5 TE and drafted him accordingly. Always for value, but I still feel like he's burning me.

He's had some bad luck. He's been wide open at times and it's just been a bad throw or deflected or something.

And also, his hands aren't nearly as good as I thought.
