Benching Rodgers? (1 Viewer)

I may have to do it. In an absolutely must win this week. No Cobb, possibly no Jones. Cleveland D is stout and GB may lean on run.

I know, I know: never bench your studs but I can see a line of 1 TD/200 yards. I need more than that this week.

I benched Aaron Rodgers last year in week 15 for Josh Freeman. Josh Freaking Freeman. I was the number 1 overall seed. I lost.

Never again. Never again.

This thread should be fun come Sunday! Interesting strategy cotton let's see if it pays off!

Jk I don't think its crazy. Cutler hasn't been bad, he's got great weapons, good protection, and a cake matchup.

I want to. But I have Bradford or T J Yates behind him.

However, I think the scores of 2 of those 3 could be very close come Sunday night.

Problem is, which 2?

I remember that week, it was a bad matchup, at Chicago. Dreaded the start but started him anyways. Won the league the next week.

I've got Romo as well as Rodgers, so instead of benching him, I'm looking to sell high. I am very nervous about the man.

Benched Stafford for Griffin last week because he was going against Cleveland D... possibly no Calvin.. blah,blah,blah... won't make that mistake ever again..

foles over arod sounds very sharky to me... Foles should be in for 300- 3 vs that ##### dallas d, esp with No Ware... Cowboys have no Dline lol.

Dude lost two of his receivers in the middle of a road game against the Ravens and still threw for 315 yards. I have no choice but to start him but I'm not worried about the matchup.

I think AR biggest issue in this stretch is he is totally playing to make the big plays. Time and time I have seen him with easy first down runs or throws just to heave it deep. I am a big fan of his but I hope he becomes a little more selective and just tries to keep the O on the field!

I wouldn't bench him unless you had a very solid replacement.

He is also isn't running anymore and that's diminishing his stats a bit.

Look, I love the guy as much as any fantasy player in the 23 years I've been at this hobby but I'm at 2-4 (second highest in points though) and clearly I'm in desperation mode.

There is a lot to think he is trending down: the establishment of a running game, his lack of rushes, two of his four best receivers OUT and they face a tough D. Three straight games with one TD.

If you have a high upside option, it's not crazy to sit him IMO.

He has 18 rushes for 63 yards this year, which annualizes to 58 attempts for 201 yards; basically the same as he's had in the past. He hasn't happened to get a rushing TD yet but that's situational.

Here's what I can tell you about Rodgers: he won't have a game with 159 passing yards, as Cutler did in week 3. You'd have to go back to 2008 to find one of those for Rodgers.

Also, does anyone else find it disturbing that Rodgers has one TD in each of the last three games?
He had a stretch last year where he had 1, 1, and 0. Followed it up with 3,3, and 4.
Was he throwing to this motley crew, and did he have the running game he has now?
Doesn't seem to matter.
Rodgers, Brees, and Manning are playing the QB position at an other-worldly level. There's no excuse for benching any of them for anyone but one of other three.

The nice thing about FF is how many people overthink things and make the most asinine decisions. We go through this every year with Rodgers. I'd really like to believe people aren't this stupid, but they just are. And don't learn. That's the galling part of all this.

It seemed to matter for 3+ quarters today.

No one belongs in the conversation with Manning. Prior to this game, Rodgers went 3 straight weeks without a top 15 finish (6 pts. per passing TD). I wouldn't call that other-worldly.

Yeah, we'll just ignore the ENTIRE body of work Rodgers has put up because the last 3 games overshadow all of that.

Yeah, we'll just ignore the CURRENT situation for Rodgers because he has been great in the past.

You obviously couldn't figure it out, but I was simply saying that his performance hasn't been "other-worldly", as another poster said.
