BENGALS DST (1 Viewer)

This is not a shot at FBG but merely a question as to why such a low ranking.

Without stating the obvious reasons that they are playing the almighty Favre & AP I am stuck at why such a huge drop :goodposting:

I could understand a drop outside the Top 10, but in my 3 MFL leagues that are customised with FBG they rank 26th twice and 25th once :goodposting:

This DST is Top 5 in most scoring formats this year .... NOw most of us are in our first week of the Playoffs and pretty much the entire league is ranked higher.

The Cards DST which is statistically FF wise about 10 spots lower in overall points scored just shut down this Vikes team on SNF....now I realize it was in the Desert and the Bengals are heading into the Metrodome but this 26th spot has me perplexed.

I set my Own lineups but when I have a "decision" to make I often refer to the FBG rankings to point me in the right direction.

I can't seem to bring myself to start the HOU DST (ranked 11th) over the Bengals DST....I know, then just do it.

Am I missing something here :lmao:

Yeah that seems a bit low. They've only really gotten burned once - by Houston, and that was still a singing.

Middle of the pack would be more reasonable IMO.

I benched them this week before any projections... not to say that their that bad but so many other teams have really juicy match-ups. I don't think it's the fact that their bad, just the fact of the other teams schedules. Vikings do have the ability to light it up. I'm sitting them this week for Ari, I think their light finally came on and I've been holding them since about week 8 because of their week 15 and 16 feast. I clinched my playoffs very early so ARI vs SF isn't terrible for me.

rating looks right to me. this game may get ugly for the bengals. minn has just been very good on offense. now they are at home presumably with a bit of a chip on their shoulder. bengals are missing interior lineman peko as well.

also consider that the bengals offense has been predictable and anemic for the last couple weeks. they have been relying on only rushing the ball and minn has a very good rush defense. i think it will be hard to move the ball for hte bengals offense and the defense is gonna be put in a very tough spot.

Didn't we hear the same when the Bengals played the Steelers? I am not saying they are top 10, but not 26th. You never know when evil-Brett Favre shows up for a couple pick-6 throws.

They don't score alot of points on Offense. Last week was nice with a DEF TD, and they did get a kickoff return from Bernard Scott a few weeks back (vs. PIT maybe?), but they are not a ball hawking DEF. Look at their points.

Cincinnati is 4th in defense (yardage given up) and ranked # 1 in fewest points allowed.

Let's look at the defenses the Vikings have gone up against: the first number is the teams yardage ranking and the second is their pts against ranking:

game 1: Cleveland 32nd, 27th

game 2: Detroit 30th, 32nd

game 3: San Fran 20th, 10th

game 4: Green Bay 1st, 8th

game 5: St. Louis 25th, 28th

game 6: Baltimore 10th, 6th

game 7: Pittsburgh 5th, 9th

game 8: Green Bay 1st, 8th

game 9: Detroit 30th, 32th

game 10: Seattle 21th, 20th

game 11: Chicago 15th, 21th

game 12: Arizona 24th, 12th

As you can see, the Vikings' offense has had a good setup in terms of having opportunities against weaker defenses. IMO, this is the best defense they will have faced to date. Me thinks the ranking from Footballguys might be ill-advised.

26th seems a bit low but I own the Bengals and they're on the bench for me this week. Last week's TD was great but they came up real small in very beatable matchups against the Browns and Raiders so I'm not confident they'll fare well against a strong offense on the road like Minnesota possesses.

I can see Cincy's D not coming up great fantasy wise, but in real football terms, performing well. But I wouldn't be surprised to see Brett hurry or force a throw or two or three.

steelers offense is not nearly as good as minnesota. the bengals were playing at home. bengals relied on a kick return td, which could be considered positive variance.regardless, the offense moved the ball very poorly in that game, just like vs the raiders, browns and lions.

Everyone keeps touting the Minn offense, but I recall last week that Minn OL just got demolished by a rash of injuries.

I haven't heard the updates during this week, but I would call this matchup a little more even than most here in this thread.
