Bengals G Steinbach charged with boating DUI

Mark Curnutte

8/7/2006

GEORGETOWN, Ky. -- Bengals left guard Eric Steinbach was arrested Saturday night and charged with a operating a boat under the influence of alcohol on the Ohio River. He was arrested by an officer with the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources. Steinbach was stopped for speeding by the officer in the idle-only speed zone between the Interstate 75 and Interstate 471 bridges, Mark Marraccini, spokesman for the agency, said tonight. The officer ran Steinbach through a series of field sobriety tests, which he failed, Marraccini said. At that point, Steinbach was arrested and taken to the Campbell County Jail. He refused a breath test. He will appear in Campbell District Court. The Bengals do not comment on ongoing legal issues involving their players. Steinbach practiced twice Monday.

The Bengals are going to be sued for copyright infringement soon by the producers of The Longest Yard.

Mel Brooks is pulling whats left of his hair out.....

I cant make this CRAP Up!?!?!?!?!?

A Boating DUI. Holy crap, that takes some big time doing. I mean, if that was in the Longest Yard, the publisher would have rejected it.

That's so weak. DUI on a boat? Please.
Maybe, but you can get in a serious accident if you aren't careful driving a boat, especially on a river, where there is a lot of commercial traffic, dams. locks, etc. Just a month ago in Pittsburgh a guy killed himself and his stepdaughter while driving a boat intoxicated. He ignored all warning signs and buoys and went right over a dam. There were 7 passengers on board and it was lucky that only 2 people were killed.

:goodposting:

there was also that boat crash a few years back that involved an MLB player. Can't recall the name, but it was pretty serious (death).

PFT has been hammering the Bengals all offseason starting with the Chad Johnson lockerroom thing that broke in the playoffs, through all the arrests and such. This incident gave yet another opportunity to pile on:

Meanwhile, coach Marvin Lewis passed out T-shirts on Monday with the team's catchy "No Pain, No Gain"-type slogan for 2006.The front of the shirt says "Innocent Until Proven Guilty."The back of it says "Chris Henry Went To Jail Five Times And All I Got Was This Stupid T-Shirt."
