For those who have not seen it on Bengals.com or if you don't drive by Paul Brown Stadium, for each $50 you spend at the Bengals Pro Shop for a limited time, you receive a free No. 85 jersey. Either C. Johnson or Ocho Cinco. Some are taking this as the tell-all sign that Chad is on his way out of town.
It still might happen, but let's hold on a minute. If a team was going to telegraph a move ahead of time, No. 3 jerseys down the street at Great American Ballpark would've been on sale for at least a year.
Just a guess here, but like all teams at the end of the year, the Bengals have a ton of end-of-season inventory, especially No. 85 jerseys. They are the most popular which means the team stocks a lot of them. For those that remember our stories from Chad's name change, Reebok waited a long time to bring Ocho Cinco jerseys out because there are a lot of C. Johnson ones still for sale. Pro shops are just like any other retail business -- they need to clear existing inventory.
To the left of the ad announcing the promo on the Bengals website is a Visa ad. If you click on it, it says for the first charge on a Bengals' Rewards Card, you get a free Carson Palmer jersey. Does that mean he is leaving too?
