WR Warrick Auditions For Old Team

Mark Curnutte, Cincinnati Enquirer - [Full Article]

Free Agent WR Peter Warrick, released during training camp 2005 by the Cincinnati Bengals, has reportedly worked out today for the team that released him. The Bengals public relations staff had no information on Warrick's tryout. But sources inside the organization said Warrick was at Paul Brown Stadium today.

He and CJ had the best nicknames and smack talk back when they were together. I say bring back 7-Eleven. He's always open.

Does anyone remember the ESPN article about P-Dub and Trub, the talented FSU receivers? And how they speculated that "Trub" (short for trouble, a family nickname) might turn out better than Warrick? That receiver was Laveranues Coles.

The Bengals have yet to decide if they’ll sign wide receiver Peter Warrick and may be waiting for test results on Antonio Chatman. Head coach Marvin Lewis said at his Wednesday news conference they didn’t necessarily bring in Warrick for Tuesday’s workout to sign him this week. But Chatman, who has some kind of mysterious groin/abdominal problem, is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game with the Falcons.

Coles was always the better route runner here, and the more fluid WR. Warrick was more of a screen-pass and hitch route kind of guy, who made a lot of guys miss. Every now and then he could get over the top of coverage and go deep.

That was back when Warrick was busted for getting free clothes from a department store. Warrick got a slap on the wrist but his non-superstar teammate was kicked off the team. That teammate was Coles.

Oiy.That wasn't the first infraction for Coles.

If Coles had been the Heisman candidate, he wouldn't have been kicked off the team.

Sure he would have. They kicked Randy Moss off the team.
