Bengals release Sam Adams (1 Viewer)

I just heard on WLW that the Bengals released Sam Adams.... out of shape.

link

The Bengals released defensive lineman Sam Adams, the team announced on Monday.

Adams is entering his 14 season. He joined the team last season as an unrestricted free agent. He started 16 games, had 25 tackles and two sacks.

“Releasing Sam is a very difficult decision,” said Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis in a astatement, “but the timing is such that it provides Sam the opportunity to obtain a roster spot with another team. Sam has had an outstanding NFL career, and we wish him and his family the very best.”

Huh, I thought (was hoping) John Thornton was at higher risk than Adams after the signings of Myers and Allen and the drafting of Toeaina.

IIRC his signing was seen as a sign the bengals would NOT switch to a 3-4.

So are they going to now? They would seem to have lots of LBs

But that would be before Sam Adams showed up fat and out of shape :P
Instigator. :) Actualy Adams was probobly thier best possible NT is he were still close to his prime. The other defensive line personel the Bengals have are ill suited to playing 3-4 defense so I see this as just another step away from that alignment rather than towards it.
