Bengals WR Chris Henry dies from injuries suffered in accident (1 Viewer)

Hope the guy's ok.

As a player, he had elite tools. Between off the field and injury issues, he may not ever put them together. The Bengals passing game really misses his field stretching ability.

Chris Henry -- a wide receiver on the Cincinnati Bengals -- is fighting for his life after falling out of the back of a moving pick-up truck earlier today.

Police tell TMZ Henry was involved in a "domestic situation" with his fiancee in North Carolina. Cops say the fiancee tried to leave her home in a pick-up truck -- when Chris ran after the truck and hopped into the bed.

Cops say , "At some point while [Henry's fiancee] was driving, Mr. Henry came out of the back of the vehicle."

Cops tell TMZ, Henry is suffering from "life threatening injuries."

According to KYPost.com, Henry is believed to have suffered "severe head injuries."

We're told a crime scene unit is currently at the scene conducting an investigation.

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry was injured after coming out of the back of a pickup truck during a domestic dispute in north Charlotte.

Officers were called out to Oakdale Road near I-485 and Statesville Road just before noon in reference to a person down. When officers arrived, they found Henry in the road, with life-threatening injuries.

Paramedics transported Henry to Carolinas Medical Center, where he is being treated, according to police.

Police say Henry was involved in a "domestic situation" with his fiancee at 840 Peachtree Road. His fiancee, who was not named in a press release, got into a pickup truck and drove away from the home. As she was driving, police say, Henry jumped into the bed of the truck.

The domestic dispute continued between the driver of the truck and Henry. At some point, Henry came out of the back of the vehicle.

He was found by police about half a mile from the house in question.

A team spokesman confirmed that the parents of Henry's fiancee live in Charlotte, though it's unclear if he was visiting them.

Henry, No. 15 on the Bengals, is in his fifth season with the team and is known for his speed and athletic ability but also his troubles off the field.

He had frequent discipline issues, including four arrests in a seven-month span in 2006.

Those arrests included supplying alcohol to three underage females, a concealed weapon charge involving allegations that he pulled a pistol on a group of revelers, and marijuana charges.

In five seasons, he's caught 119 passes for 1,826 yard and 21 touchdowns.

He has been on injured reserve since dislocating his forearm Nov. 9.

 
Local news in Cincinnati, Channel 5 Ken Broo, during broadcast, just said there are homicide detectives at accident scene and said life threatening, short of saying anything else, he said they are waiting for more facts. Doesn't sound good at all, hopefully some of the information reported via Twitter is presumptious, but I am sure it is accurate. RIP

Yeah, that sounds more like Andy Herron's Twitter account!
 
RIP. Does no good to think about really but I can't help but think if he does not break his arm he's with the team right now preparing for next weeks game.

 
Now there's some belief that the twitter account that is supposed to Gerry Fraley is fake... stay tuned. There's still hope.

Shades of Sean Taylor. If Taylor hadn't been hurt, and at home, he would have been practicing with the Redskins for the next game. :hifive:
 
CBS reporting that he has died. Sure hope they didn't jump the gun reporting this.

Sad, if true. Sounded like he was starting to turn his life around.
