Bengals WR Henry taken off on golf cart

Written by: Mark Curnutte ¦ 9/20/2006

Source: frontier.cincinnati.com

Wide receiver Chris Henry was taken off the practice field on a golf cart midway through practice this afternoon. Coach Marvin Lewis said Henry was "fine" and left pratice early to get early treatment.

After practice, though, practice squad wide receiver Glenn Holt stayed out late with backup quarterback Anthony Wright doing extra work on routes.

The Bengals are down to four healthy wide receivers: Chad Johnson, Kelley Washington, Reggie McNeal and Henry, presuming he's healthy.

The other receivers are injured and have not played in the first two games: Antonio Chatman (groin) is doubtful, and T.J. Houshmandzadeh (heel) is questionable. McNeal was signed Tuesday from the Bengals practice squad. Tab Perry (hip) was ruled out today by Lewis, who said Perry would be on crutches for a period of weeks.

amazing how quick one of the deepest teams at WR can all of a sudden be hurting to find a 3-4th guy to play...life in the NFL don't blink. I need more info on this as he was going to be a key pick up for me this week, esp. after i read that Palmer says he is the key to the passing game there. Keep the thread live and updated as much as possible, I will look around for info also..post what you find...good stuff MBK4

Yeah rrriiiggghhhttt Coach, he's finnnneeeee. The ride on the golf cart was just for Chits & Grins.

wtf is going on in Cincinnati?

could it finally be Washington's time?

i think he's worth a pickup in deeper leagues at this point.

You've seen this frequently in games. Players get a severe cramp for example, taken off on a golf cart and hydrated in the locker room only to return and play excellently. You really need to know the reason why he was taken off the field to make this statement.

Anyone know if Housh practiced at all?
I'm wondering too.The Steelers should be able to slow Rudi down so I see Carson throwing the ball a ton this week. But if all of his targets are hurting it could still be bad enough that you might have to bench him.

I love MBK4's timely reports, but this title is a little misleading. He may be messed up, but there is nothing on any of the 3 Bengals message boards I checked out to suggest anything is wrong with him. Maybe MBK4 has a scoop, wouldn't suprise me, but for now the story seems to be he got a ride on a golf cart, not carted off the field because of an injury...at least I hope so.

Curnutte is the man for Bengals news, he updates his practice blog daily. It may be nothing or it may be something but his scoop here is legit.

supposedly practiced(Defined as missing any portion of 11-on-11 team work)WED Rich Braham; Dexter Jackson; A.J. Nicholson; TabPerry; Antonio Chatman; Sam Adams; Deltha O'Neal;Deltha O'Neal; Eric Steinbach; Chris Henry; Levi Jones;Levi Jones

It's ridiculous really. Moose, you should edit that. And I don't care if you copied it from the source. It's ridiculous. For all we know he caught a ride on the cart. There's no indication whatsoever he was carted off for injury. Why imply that? More

The Bengals had a raft of probable players not practice: Wide receiver Chris Henry (groin), left tackle Levi Jones (ankle), cornerback Deltha O’Neal (knee), linebacker Brian Simmons (knee), and left guard Eric Steinbach (back).

Anymore injuries for steeler week, if we beat Pittsburgh Im going to be :loco:
