I've been to Bermuda twice. Love it there... August is going to be a really busy time for cruisers, I think. So expect a ton of tourists.
A quick brain dump:
Go see Ashley @
Hidden Gems of Bermuda. I learned more on the tour with her that day than I did the entire time I've spent on the island. She's a lot of fun and will go out of her way to make sure you're enjoying yourself. We had our camera battery die on us halfway through the tour, so she called her dad and had him meet us on the next stop so we can borrow his DSLR.
The museum is cool, but it'll probably be mobbed with cruisers. Some good shops in the Dockyard, but they'll be mobbed too.
The Lobster Pot in Hamilton was my favorite place to eat.
There are some jet ski tours that will take you out to the tip of the Bermuda Triangle. Stop halfway out, swim in a cove for a bit, and come back.
Lots of good snorkeling tours at the Dockyard. The
power snorkel tour was fun.
Hamilton is nothing special - just another city/concrete jungle.
Horseshoe Bay Beach is a popular spot for the pink sand. If you go, you can avoid the crowds by walking down the shoreline and go thru the first rock wall. Most people are too lazy to walk 100yds past the entrance, so you'll have most of that beach to yourself.
I ran about 2/3 of the
Bermuda Railway Trail and loved it. Its a fun/free way to see a lot of the island.
Some nice restaurants at the
Fairmont Southampton
