No link - from a pay site, but he had to leave practice and seemed "visibly shaken"
Herm didn't seem to know much. He thpought it was similar to Boone's injury but didn't know.If it is broken at least it happened early.
There are plenty of worse things for a Strong Saftey than a broken finger as well. Heck, Ronnie Lott would just tell him to cut the damn thing off.

I was able to find...

"In yesterday’s practice, defensive tackle Alfonso Boone injured his finger which caused him to not suit up in pads today. At today's practice, safety Bernard Pollard suffered a similar finger injury, which forced him to exit practice before the rest of the Chiefs. Teammate cornerback Benny Sapp came over to comfort Pollard as he winced in pain, while the trainer examined his hand. Pollard is the team's starting safety, and a valuable member of the overall defense. He is the leading candidate for the strong safety job. Head Coach Herm Edwards commented on the injuries at his morning press conference, saying that 'doctors are going to look at both of them.'"

Injury Update: S Bernard Pollard left the AM practice early with an injured finger, but returned for the afternoon practice. DT Alfonso Boone also missed the AM session with a similar injury according to Edwards.

Looks like a doslocation

In the morning practice, safety Bernard Pollard dislocated his finger, but that did not slow him down one bit this afternoon. Pollard strolled on the practice field at about 4:09 p.m., shortly after his team. This showed a lot of character considering this was a light practice that a lot of veterans were not present at. Many players were not practicing, including cornerbacks Patrick Surtain and Ty Law because they are veterans and need to give the younger guys more reps.

In an interview after the practice, safety Jared Page talked about how he was excited to be opposite side of Pollard. About Pollard, Page says, “He works hard, he’s a heavy hitter.” In the morning practice Page got yelled at for not following his assignment, because he was trying too hard. In response he said, “It's hard to pull back sometimes. At the safety position you can’t try and make plays; you have to wait till the play comes to you and then go after it.”

Supposedly, Pollard has been blowing up at practice and is getting INT's often. If he can keep that up + his fierce hitting...maybe something to really watch.

He was back on the field again today. If he can cover(one of his potential problems) I agree with you.

Anyone know if Pollard sat last night. If he did Jarrad Page line up at SS. He seemed to make a pretty big dent in the tackle category while he was in.

Just viewed the first quarter again and they both played the whole quarter but were replaced in the second. Gamebook has Pollard as the starting SS but I thought Page played closer to the LOS a little more.

1st game. Sean Jones didn't do much tackling either. I thought Pollard had a couple of tackles but wasn't given any credit for them. You know how those assisted tackle stats go with some teams.

Pollard also had a INT that was called back. I'm sure his finger had some to do with him only playing some limited snaps and the fact it is pre-season and the starters don't play very many plays anyway.

as long as i don't hear that pollard was routinely getting toasted i view this as a good thing. since his apparent weakness was his coverage and makeup speed. nobody questioned his tackling and 'in-the-box' skillz. maybe herm and gunther were just seeing how he would do when forced to cover to see 'if' he'd be a liability. one would think his coverage deficiency(if he has one) would be lessened anyways with coverage LB'ers like donnie and derrick to cover TE's and the middle of the field in obvious passing situations.

from the 2nd game it looks like the chiefs safeties do alot of switching(for whom stays close to LOS), and it seems they may need to leave both safeties in the box this year to have any chance of stopping the run. with chargers and broncos in the same division(and who knows kiffin's creativity may spark the raiders run game-once rhodes is eligible) both safeties will have ample opportunities for tackles. my lord how long has it been since the chiefs have had a legit run stuffing DT? and for all of herm's preaching of fundamentals the chiefs still can't tackle. ronnie was stuffed multiple times for no gaine or a loss and he broke free for a nice gain.

I'm glad you brought this up. We might discuss it further in our podcast this week (last week's was repeatedly sabotaged -- the IDP gods were against us for some reason) as it's been a really interesting situation. And it's Herm Edwards usual MO, i.e. good luck figuring out what I want to do.Against the Browns, Page and Pollard did not adjust according to strong side/weak side. The Browns offensive formation didn't change much, and was mostly strong side right. Page aligned on the left (strong side) every down, Pollard on the right (weak). It was exactly the opposite against the Dolphins. Miami was still predominantly strong side right, but Pollard aligned to the left side every down, Page to the right. It was also notable that the Chiefs played nearly all Cover-2 on the outside, although Donnie Edwards had man coverage on the TE on passing downs and Pollard was in the box often against two RB offensive sets. Also, Wesley rotated series with Page both games.I'm drawing some conclusions here, but I think this is what's going on. The Chiefs are going to be a Cover-2/Tampa-2 team a lot this year. Herm, as he did in New York with Rhodes and Coleman, will run a right-left alignment for the most part. I think putting Page on the left side was to work top and bottom coverage on Winslow, so he may be a stud play against teams with strong TE this year. The Wesley deal is something to watch. He's either going to cut into Page's stats or KC is giving him snaps against the opposition ones to showcase him for a trade -- may end up being both. For me, it also likely means that Edwards, as the ROLB in a Tampa-2 oriented scheme but often getting man coverage responsibilities on the TE, needs to be bumped from my current ranking.
