You've got a yes/no answer to 3 different questions:

1) Will he split carries

2) Will he be out by camp

3) Is he the future

I'm assuming you want the answer to the 1st?

The title question and the poll question are too different. I need more options.

Will he be out by TC? No

Will he be the future of the team? Who knows? Too early to tell.

"You cannot change the stripes of a leopard" -- Emmitt Smith

Or the Bengals front office.

Or probably this kid.

He'll probably once again be in stripes, and I don't mean Bengal black and orange.

But there's always a chance. He hasn't run afoul of Roger Goodell... yet. And it's been 3 whole days already!

He didn't really say this right?

I didn't vote because I didn't know what question I was to be voting on.

But here's my answers:

1. He WILL make the team as the #2 RB this year, so

2. He WILL spell Benson and get approx 1/3 of the carries unless either gets injured. (and I think there is a high probability that he gets plenty of PT because IMO Benson probably has even a higher injury risk than an average NFL starting RB, due to previous injuries.

3. It is impossible to say whether he is the RB of the future for CIN.

My questions are -

a. Is he really that much more talented than Benson that he is capable of taking over the position? and

b. Will he be able to survive his OFF-SEASONS without incidents? And will he be able to handle situations AFTER he achieves some level of NFL success?

In my mind, the last two questions are the real questions - ones that no-one but Scott can answer.

Many of you guys are focusing on his 4 colleges and 5 arrests and pre-judging the kid, as if he's a career criminal. He's not. His problems have all been relatively minor and mostly related to his issue with anger control. His coach at Abilene Christian (Chris Thomsen) has not seen Scott 'go off' with an uncontrolled anger incident in over 3 years. Thomsen is continuing a mentoring relationship with Scott and he also knows the CINCY RB coach real well and believes he will be a very stabilizing influence for Scott. I also know Bernard Scott is VERY focused on his goals right now. However I have reason to believe that Scott has not had any type of psychiatric therapy for his anger impulse, which I think would help him greatly in the long run.

The Bengals have had a decent history of developing RBs lately. Dillon and Rudi are the prime examples, although they whiffed on Kenny Irons (injured) and Chris Perry (showed promise before injury). I am counting Ki-Jana as neither good or bad because he blew his knee on his first carry.

Even if Scott does screw up in a minor way, they would also seem to give him another chance if he shows anything. How many chances did Chris Henry get?

I'm not sure what the question is.

I said no to the poll question, "Is he the future" because I don't see a 6th rounder with his history becoming a staple of the Bengals offense for 3+ years.

Could he get a share of the carries next season? Sure.

I like this kids skill set. He's an intriguing pickup, because he should contribute right away with a bad RB corps, and his ceiling is uber high being on such a potent offense.
