Best albums of 2013 (1 Viewer)

It has been a good year, but I'm leaving room in my top ten for upcoming releases from Arcade Fire, Okkervil River, and Dr Dog. :pickle:
New Dismemberment Plan joint drops this year too.
I dont know why, but I have a stinking suspicion that is going to suck. I hope I'm wrong.
Something's better than nothing.

I know things like this shouldn't matter, but I'm glad they never got big enough that a reunion would be motivated by money more than anything. Looking at you, Omar and Ced.

I dig that new Dr. Dog tune, different for them but not really. They might be the only band Im still confident in to put out nothing but another very good album every time. Considering Be The Void was released last year, plus another EP, you also know you dont have to wait too long for the new material either which is fine by me.

I really liked Edward Sharpe's debut album Up From Below, but the new one is garbage. Sounds like Raffi or something my parents played for me when I was little, kiddie music basically.

Got about 5 songs in before I got tired of it and gave up. Figured I'd give it another shot later, but it sounds like the whole.thing sucks.

I was about to turn it off around when you did myself, got to track 11 or so and that was enough. Couldnt finish. Its thoughtless yet preachy.

Track 12 was the best one. :pokey:

I just now listened to the whole thing. Mostly just meh, though 2 and 7 were worse than that. Seems like a lot of Lennon/Beatles recycling gone astray more often that not.

New Neko Case comes out in early September, I'm really looking forward to that.

I liked the Savages new album, that is worth a listen or two.

I'm hoping the new Civil Wars album makes this list.
Heard some of it this morning and it was pretty good. Apparently it will most likely be the last Civil Wars album ever since the two are no longer on speaking terms and have cancelled all concert dates.

The first one was really really good. It's probably the tension between the two that made it so. A shame they can't stay together.

So they're having a civil war then?

That Civil Wars sounds like some super ####ty music to me. And I thought "Disarm" was a drag to listen to before.. jesus.

Jake Bugg's debut album is really good. Crazy this kid just turned 19.

Seen It All

Ballad of Mr Jones

Simple As This
Really good album. Those aren't even the first 3 songs I would have chosen to post. The new Bob Dylan moniker is played out, but it is somewhat fitting here.
Yeah, hard to pick the best songs on this album (plus Ive only given it 3 listens). Those ones were a few that stood out to me, but really there isnt a bad song on the album. Just didnt want to post Two Fingers since its from his EP from last year and got a good amount of play already. Agreed on the Dylan comparison, almost was going to say in my OP that its thrown around too much, but I think its works here to a degree. Ballad of Mr Jones and Simple as This were a couple songs lyrically that do remind me of Dylan so thats part of why I posted them. Lightning Bolt, Taste It, Trouble Town all sort of sound like going electric-era Dylan. Bugg definitely has something good going on, and considering he's only 19, it will be interested to see the path his music goes.

What are your favorite songs?
Just got back from seeing Mr Bugg down town and his show was great. He included four new songs which indicate the second album will be just as good as the first. He reminds me of Neil Young a little and oddly enough he covered Hey Hey My My as one of his two encore songs.

Nice..good to hear

He's sort of a combo of Neil and Dylan I think, but he definitely has his own style going on. He has a long future ahead.

This seems to be right up the alley of many here...

Warm Soda, which combines poppy guitar with grungy vocals, has seen increasing recognition for its catchy tracks and a summery, garage-rock sound.

Listening to Warm Soda’s debut LP "Someone For You", which is set for release on March 26 via Castle Face Records, it’s no surprise that the album was recorded in California as each track glistens with a distinctly laid back feel. You can stream "Someone For You" in its entirety here.
Late to the party on this. Rules.
