Best Ball (MFL10s, DRAFT, etc.) (2 Viewers)

Second iteration of 1000:

1 Defense Ave 7 7 8 8 9 7 7 8 8 9 9 8 9 9 9 82 Defenses Ave 11 11 12 11 12 11 9 11 10 13 11 12 13 13 12 113 Defenses Ave 13 13 14 13 14 13 11 13 12 15 13 14 16 15 14 124 Defenses Ave 14 15 15 15 15 15 12 14 13 17 15 15 17 17 15 14If you have 2 defenses, you will average 3.x points more per week than 1 defense. (Plus your zero for the bye week)

If you have 3 defenses, you will average 2.x points more per week than 2 defenses.

If you have 4 defenses, you will average 1.x points more per week than 3 defenses.

Pretty clear to see diminishing returns, but the extra 2 points per week is worth it to get to 3 defenses.

Need hyperlinks to the leagues. League IDs are not unique in MFL as they use different servers with redundant league IDs.
Huh? But I guess since you're dragging your feet, I'll go ahead and hyperlink each individual league for you...
That search tool is not reliable unless you use an email address. Like I said, MFL uses multiple servers. Example url: http://www8.myfantasyleague.com/2015/home/10588#0

The uniqueness of a league comes from a combination of the server # (the 8 in the url above), year, and leagueID. Providing a leagueID only will not always point me to the correct league, although it will sometimes.

I'd be very impressed if you could somehow manage to not find the correct leagues with the League IDs I PM'd you and that link. A scenario similar to Baxter eating the whole wheel of cheese...

Bell's reduction is great news for me. I am heavily invested in him.

For those of you who didn't have him as your #1 overall, has the reduction changed anything for you?

Nope. If I land a top 5 pick, I still take Brown every chance I get.

That said, if someone beats me to Brown then I may take Bell. I have taken Bell I believe twice though just for diversification but overall prefer Brown. Part of that though is the 50% bust potential for RBs versus the almost mortal lock that Brown and probably Bryant as well, will produce big numbers especially in the ppr format.

Not sure if it was touched on but any idea why FBGs doesn't have a cheat sheet specifically for MFL10s.

I usually print something out in addition to my rankings but kind of weird they don't have one since they have pretty much everything else.

Back to the ollldd topic of Gronk in round 1, I just took him at 1.11 and Graham at 3.11. We'll see what happens, but I'm definitely going boom/bust.

It may have been written here already and I missed it if it was I am sorry.

Where can you see an up to date ADP for the MFL 10's?

I have to think the drop down on the actual draft is not current ADP information.

Here.

I've linked the page with the pull downs already set to "MFL Public Leagues" and "After Jul 15th".

I just made the second private MFL10 for us.

Just going to give this a bump.
Come on, posters and lurkers... let's get this full! Only five spots left. The last one was wrapped up in just 4 days and 1 hour. As I see it, that kind of pace alone makes it worth joining...

I joined. As someone in an MFL10 that just timed out on the first pick, I appreciate the faster pace. . .

I've been a member for years but I like the single page sheet that I can print and carry around. Great for weekends and when I'm not home to open all the stuff up when it's my pick.

I'm just using the PPR 2 sheet right now. Seems close enough

Glad you're back Broadway. And thanks for the stats, I appreciate them. Very interesting re: Beckham, and trends regarding build.

Now how about hopping into the thread league? 'footballguys2'

The top 2 RBs taken are actually statistically safer than the top 2 WRs taken, in terms of producing RB1/WR1 (top 6/12) numbers. Taking the number 1 RB will yield you a top 6 RB 60% of the time, and a top 12 RB 80% of the time. The number 2 RB is actually somewhat safer at 60/87%. Compare to the number 1 WR (47/67%), and the number 2 WR (53/80%). It's not until you get into the 3/4/5 range that the WRs start to show better return.

These stats (PPR) were taken from a 15 year analysis done by John Paulson over at 4for4.

Cheatsheets are nearly useless for best ball. They can help you get your players in order, but that's something that should be pretty ingrained at this point for someone who is seriously drafting leagues already. Best ball is more about roster composition - the tools that are most helpful will be general guidelines (Bloom's MFL articles), and hard stats (shoutout to BroadwayG).

sigh....

sometimes I just need a list I can put in my pocket so I don't hold up the draft when I'm out ;)

Otherwise I end up forgetting a guy. I usually highlight the outliers on the stock cheat sheets.

I already have the composition down its more about my memory, LOL

I'm in the last round of my only active MFL10. I'm going to try and clear my schedule for this Shark Pool MFL10.

Only 2 spots left, let's fill it this morning and get drafting for this afternoon.

As someone who has Bell as my #1 overall, I think D. Williams at 13.07 is way to high. I understand that you should get at least two games with lead back production and he seems to be the true back up to Bell but there's so much left at other positions. Even a few backs I like more.

My plan is now:

5 RBs in the first ten

3 Def in rounds 17, 18, 19

Top 3 TE + Eifert

Some combo of Brees/Ben/Rivers

7 WR throughout the draft

1 Wiggle Spot: where if I don't get a top 3 TE I will draft an extra one OR if I don't get my desired QB pair I will draft an extra one. If all has went to plan this spot is just an extra flyer player at RB or WR.

Round 2 is underway! Got the 7th pick, not too pleased. Looks like I'll once again end up deciding between Lynch or an elite WR.

I have not been targetting Williams in the leagues where I have been drafting Bell. I've been able to get players like Ivory and Mason a few rounds earlier, and feel better knowing they can contribute outside of Bell's suspension.

Pre draft picks for round one and two for me are already in.

Just a reminder to for everyone to change their team name to their name here. Give it a bit more of a FBG feel.

I used the spreadsheet generated by FBG using the MFL rules and was able to print it off as one page. I also have it saved as a google doc so I can access it anywhere I have internet. With my iPhone I can access that spreadsheet just about anywhere.

To those of you who say that cheatsheets are worthless for an MFL you must have every player memorized. I don't like the ADP list that MFL has so I like to go by my own list. Sometimes I have a player that I have rated higher that is really low on the MFL list. Without my sheet I would probably forget about him.

I import current ADP from my spreadsheet into My Draft List on the site whenever I start a new league. Not perfect but a gazillion times better than the default list. I know enough which guys I don't like at their ADP and which guys I'll go earlier on. Unfortunately I didn't start doing this until recently.

I did not know about this option either. Fantastic tip.

Tough to pass on Julio, but Foster/Murray is my absolute ideal double digit draft slot start.

I used to like a RB/WR start because of the excellent RB choices at the 3/4 turn, but that has been drying up slowly as RBs keep creeping up.

Forte/McCoy is a happy start for me but also expected. Both should be bellcows and that's all I can really ask for.

Spiller was really the only surprise to me so far.

It will be interesting to see who's left when it comes back me.

Yeah, Spiller at 2.03 shocked me.

My first 3 picks.

Lynch, Cobb, Gordon.

I understand a reach in this draft because you know everyone is putting in work to be ready and at pick 10 you have to hope 20 picks go by without anyone taking your guy.

Spiller, specifically, has an ADP of 3.10 which is where ang12 picks next. So if that's their guy then they almost have to take him there. Value is subjective.

Spiller wouldn't have gotten past me at 3.08. My sense from very recent drafts is that his ADP is more in the early to mid 3rd... I wish there was a bit more flexibility in setting the "drafts starting after" pull down on MFL's ADP tool. An interesting tidbit, that spot (15th overall) was the highest Spiller has gone in over 2000 drafts this year.

ETA Spiller probably wouldn't even have gotten to me at 3.08.

Spiller wouldn't have gotten past me at 3.06 either. I like him slightly more than Ingram. No way I would take him in round 2 though, especially over studs like Julio and Demaryius. Those are the two best value picks of the draft so far.

Turn went exactly as expected with Hopkins/Stewart. Graham was my only spare predraft that didn't make the cut. Stewart isn't everyone's slice of pie, but you have to love the division he plays in. I've never been disappointed in the WR options at 5/6.

So yea, the Spiller pick... I could've gone RB at 1.10, but I was too tempted by OBJ. By the time my 2nd pick came around the turn, Forte/Foster/Murray/McCoy were all gone and I had Spiller as a guy to target in best ball. It was a definite reach, but I knew he wouldn't be there in the 3rd, so I got a little jumpy and took him over better WR value. Going WR in the first, I figured I could load up on WR depth in later rounds. Still got Morris as a decent RB2 along with Jimmy G as a top 3 TE, but I'll need to find some value picks later on.

In my 5 other MFL 10's he's gone in the 4th 3 times, and 3.06 twice, so IMO, I think it would have been worth the gamble to wait on him (earlier posts not withstanding). I understand getting the guy you want, but even his way outperforms expectations, it still may not justify taking him over Julio/DT/Jordy. But I guess we'll see what WR values fall later on. Graham in the 4th is a good start in gaining back some of that value.

I wanted to give 0RB a try in this draft. Don't think I forced it too much, although I should have grabbed Gronk at 7 to really kick it off the right way. Don't mind pairing Rodgers and Jordy in this format, and Benjamin is great as a WR3. I could have gone Randle, but trying to divest from him a little bit, as I got him a lot in my early MFL10s.

Went Cooks/Kelce.

Cooks I think will have a great year. Simple pick.

Kelce I took over Jimmy. I don't like Russell Wilson. I don't like that he is going from one of the highest passing volume teams to one of the lowest. I don't like that so many of the Seahawks players are holding out or trying to work on new deals. Kelce I expect to see an uptick in production and I think Jimmy takes a big hit.

Since I'm next to you, I'll know to snipe you on RB values in the upcoming even rounds. :P

Is there any history of stats on winning teams based off of multiple WRs from one team.

I currently have Keenan Allen and Jarvis Landry on my team.

It is getting into of the 11th round and I am wondering if I hedge these 2 with Stevie Johnson and Kenny Stills as my 5th and 6th WR is a good move? Handcuff but also players that should see good action any given week.

I have not as I screwed up the teams in my 2014 data by looking at the 2015 player data while doing my import. I simply haven't had the time to go back and fix it to do anything with bye weeks, stacks, etc.
