Best Canadian players to play in the NFL (1 Viewer)

Yes, us Canadians do have our own league, but I much prefer the NFL game to the CFL game which is the case with many of my buddies as well. Just so us Canadains feel a little bit better about ourselves as far as Canadian players who play or played in the NFL, I would love to start a list of great Canadian players to play in the NFL.I will start the list with a player that many younger Canadians do not even know about......Ruben Mayes Saints RB -2 time probowler-In his rookie season in 1986 he ran for 1353 yards, 8 TD's and added 17 receptions for 96 yards to be named rookie of the year. -He had 2 solid seasons and then had 3 sub par seasons and fizzled away.-He is from my home province of Saskatchewan and I hang his jersey prowdly in my room. Please add anyone you see fit. The list will not be long but I can think of a couple off of the top of my head.

If you are going to represent Canadians....at least have the decency to spell it correctly. Thanks.

This player recently played for the Manitoba Bisons and looked like a complete beast out there on defense, except for the fact he had legs like toothpicks. Who is he?

Laugh it up... we've already got the MVP trophies from the NBA and MLB, along with the Indy 500 and the Masters. You're next NFL.P.S. Nate Burleson? Really? Wow.

Maybe not recent enough, but what about Tyrone Williams? Only player to ever win Vanier Cup, Grey Cup and Super Bowl. Fellow U.W.O. alum Tim Tindale as well.

Next Mustang to make it to the show will be Andy Fantuz from my own little hometown of Chatham, Ontario (alright making it to the show may be wishful thinking). You can check him out in the East/West Shrine game.

And how could I forget, Shaun Suisham, Cowboys kicker (for now) from about 20 kms north of Chatham?

Interesting - I am from Chatham too.....small world - did you attend Western when Tindale was there? How old are you? There was also an All Pro O linemen who played for the Philly Eagles as well about 10 years ago - then went on to Temple as a coach - his name escapes me right now.

Brett Romberg who played C for the Miami Canes teams and is from Belle River.

Ed Philion played for the Bills as well a few years ago.

I started at Western in 95. I'm 29. You?

Isreal Idonije. I went to high school with him. Guy never played football until his Junior year.I find it hilarious that this Canadian guy whos mother forced him to play football is now in the NFL while millions of young americans live and breath it their whole life.

If I recall the only people from Chatham in that time period who were from Chatham might be Sean Nusink, Derek Krete, Sandy McGregor, Hazzard or McCurdyI did not play ball at the university level - but I sure am curious as to who you are?!?! I know you did not play at JMSS, possibly Hazzard this is?

I was going to add Romberg and Philion as well.Romberg is still with the Jags although he's inactive every week. He lived down the street from my wife and hung out with her and her older brother and was friends with a kid my wife babysat.

One more: Dahran Diedrick, ex Cornhusker RB, has had a few NFL tryouts and may be on a practice squad somewhere.

Rypien was Canadian by birth but raised as an American. Is there a Canadian in the hall of fame(Canton)? Rueben Mayes could have been the best of these guys but he lasted about as long as Billy Sims did. Most Canadians have been linemen or kickers. I recall Roy Gerala missing a million kicks for the Steelers in the mid 70's......... :excited:

Eddie would have an outside shot at the hall if he wasn't a kicker. Because he would have been a Irving Fryer type as a postional player. I would love see what dirty pictures Jan Stenerud had to get into the hall............ :excited:

WAR Vincent Massey High School, Brandon Manitoba, Canada!!!Izzy is a great guy, and deserves some props on that Chicago Defense...not sure he could be a starter on other teams, but he could challenge for a starting spot on many teams!

FWIW, the Canadian Football Hall of Fame is in my hometown of Hamilton, Ontario...
