Best Cover Song Poker (1 Viewer)

As big a PJ fan as you're going to find, but Hendrix's "Watchtower" is the pocket aces of covers.

Johnny Cash's "Hurt" is a pair of 10s. Looks good at a glance, then you put it in play and realize you're sunk.

Yeah,I'm gonna need runner-runner to beat Watchtower. I saw DMB, kravitz and a sprinkle of Paul Simon do it at jazz fest one year. I forgot about Hendrix though.

By the way, if you want to hear some truly great covers, check out Six Feet Under on youtube. Death metal outfit with hundreds of cover tunes, absolutely hilarious to hear some of these songs covered in this way.

At the risk of closing myself in a genre box I'll add that I would see the flop with nirvana - Jesus don't want me for a sunbeam.

Deerhunter does a badass cover in the middle of nothing ever happens at pitchfork but it's only a snippet.

I was ready to call with Disturbed's "Shout" (65s) until I caught a glimpse of my neighbors hand, "Land of Confusion" (87s). Although it turned out we were both dominated by Faith No More's "War Pigs" (AQo).

oh sweet jesus....my wife found google on the internet....now she's all trying to dance around the table after calling all in with Sinead O'Connor's Nothing Compares 2 You without even seeing the flop. This won't end well.

Needles and Pins by The Ramones.

Queens.

eta* Who beats pocket queens, in all senses of the word and location, right now?

Hand over the cash.

If I have to beat aces, I'll get it on the river.

Eric Gales - Voodoo Child

The last 5 or 6 minutes are just great.

How this guy has flown so far under the radar for 25 years is mind boggling.I saw him when he was 17 and he was unbelievable. Lots of good performances of his are on YouTube.

Always been a big fan of acoustic music, so it's fitting to offer this one from the 1994 Unplugged album by Nirvana.

The Man Who Sold the World

If I remember correctly, many Nirvana fans had never heard the song before, and thought it was a new one by the band.
