Best draft position this year? (1 Viewer)

For those in leagues that allow you to pick your draft position what's the best spot to pick out of this year? I'm thinking 4th pick because the drop off after the top 4 rbs is so huge.

In PPR, I think that #5 is great. You are guaranteed one of Foster, AP, Ray Rice, McCoy, or CJ (assuming he gets into camp).

Non-PPR, I think that top-3 is a must, for Foster, AP, or Rice.

Right now I'm hating being #5 pick overall in 2 leagues. CJ obviously falls into that spot and like the many who have drafted him especially in top 6 picks or so, I'm just hoping that there's some positive progress with his visit with the Titans tomorrow.

In PPR, I'd say the 6 slot.

You get what's left of Foster, AP, Johnson, McCoy, Rice & Charles.

In standard scoring non-PPR, I feel any one of the the top 5 spots is ideal as you will be able to draft one of the top 5 RBs (assuming CJ2K signs). After the top 5, I prefer drafting near the end of round 1 where you can likely draft a top 3 WR and still get a top 10 RB in round 2.

7 spot all day long. It's not about who you grab in the 1st but the damage you carve out in rounds 3 thru about 11 or 12. I find you can get ahead of runs, avoid runs, end runs, I really like the 7 hole or the 6 hole too. Middle of a 12 teamer if possible.

As it is every year - the chair between two morons whatever the number on the chair
So true. The flip side of this is what I'm experiencing this year....I'm at 6, between who I consider the two best drafters other than me on each side. Not sure what to think about this.

Anyone have the RB's Mini Tiered like this?

Foster, AP

Ray Rice

*

Charles

*

McCoy

I have Foster AP in top tier by themselves, Ray Rice not too far behind.

Charles is a bump down and I have McCoy way below those guys. I'm having a hard time deciding between choosing 3rd pick or 4th pick of the draft.

While I agree with you regarding managing the runs drafing the middle, I love drafting early this year (top 4) and getting one of the elite backs. As long as you remain flexible and don't box yourself into a specific need, I would rather have 3 of the top 24 players at RB/WR in a 12 teamer. After about 15 RBs, it gets dicey. I like the top 9 WRs and then the next 10 WRs are fairly similar. Drafing in the 1-4 hole, you are likely to get 3 of the top 25 players at RB/WR.....that's a nice advantage to have. And if you play in QB friendly scoring leagues, you can start with a top QB, a top RB, and a top WR, since it's likely that you can end the stud QB run in Round 2.This year, give me an early pick.
