Best Draft Position? (1 Viewer)

Wild Young Billy

A Crazy Cat
My league has a draft to choose our draft position. What do you think is the best draft position for this year? We are a PPR league and receiving yards are counted half as much as rushing yards. Other than that it's fairly standard.

if you had the first choice to pick your draft position, what would it be?

More information would be helpful. Elaborate on full scoring parmeters, number of teams, dynasty or redraft, etc.

My bad.....12 teams, redraft. 15 rounds. Even mix of experienced and rookie level owners. - 4 pts for Pass TD- 6 pts all other TD- .1 pts for each rushing yard- .05 for each receiving yard- .03 for each pass yard- 1 pt per receptionThe #1 overall pick, although appealing doesn't seem like the best spot. I am thinking #4-6.

If given the choice, I'd always go with #1 overall. That pick alone gives you an advantage that is not lost by picking last in round 2.

While you can't fully argue with this since you are guaranteed to own 3 of the players you want the most after only 25 selections, I like ranking the top RBs and picking where I feel the last top RB is.So for example, if there are 5 RBs I feel I would be equally as happy with (after AP @ #1 overall), I would choose to draft #6. This way if AP goes one and 4 of the other 5 go 2-5, I still get one of them at 6.The latest spot you feel you can certainly (not maybe, certainly) get a workhorse RB to lead your team is where you should select. For each person that spot will be different because everyone values certain players differently than others.

In p.p.r. I've enjoyed (what I feel are) my best mocks at either 1.11 or 1.12. I've usually been taking two Tier 1 WR's back to back and the vast majority of the time, only 6-9 more RB's are selected between 2.01 and 3.11 or 12.

And I feel like the RB depth is exceptional this year.

I've always been partial to the #2 spot and it seems anytime I end up with that pick I do very well in that season. I like the fact that I almost always get my stud (as I will usually have a guy #1 on my board that is different than the general consensus, MJD this year not Peterson) and I will then get 1st dibs on the next guy over the person picking #1 overall.

Well, for most drafts, it is down to ADP and MJD. so if you would be equally happy with either one, then #2 is the pick you want.

I feel ADP is head and shoulders above everyone else (non PPR), so I'd want #1 in a landslide. But if I couldn't have #1 (and I won't, I never have) I'd like either #2 or #11 (12-team). I like being at the turn, but having the one team behind me that I can play off of, so to speak. I can usually predict what direction that team at #1 or #12 is going to go, particularly in the middle rounds, and let a player at a position I need slide around the turn if they don't need that position to take the player I really want a round earlier.

That sounds more complicated than it is, I guess. Basically I want #1, #2, or #11 in that order. #11 is sweet this year, particularly if an LT, Deangelo, Gore, or Fitz slides down there - which they have done in some of the mocks I've participated in.

I have won the championship every time I have turned the corner on a serpentine draft. 7 for 7. My first choice would be the 1.1 next would be 1.last. I'm sure it's just luck but I'm going to ride that streak until it crashes.

Beyond that, I like to draft in the middle slot - much easier to trade that way, imho.

in our ten team league I am hoping to get the 1st pick and if not that, I would be happy with 6th or 5th...and after that, I don't much care what I get.

Over the last 10 years in our $200 buy in, 12-team, PPR/IDP redraft there have been 10 different winners, who have drafted at just about every spot. Even when LT was a God, the #1 pick didn't automatically win you a championship. Draft spot doesn't really make much difference.

Building a sound team, picking a good sleeper or two, scooping a stud off the waiver wire in week 2, and avoiding major injuries are all you need to do to win. :pickle:

Isn't the point of PPR to put WRs more on par with RBs? :lmao: Anyway, I'd prefer to draft near the front. #1 ideally.

All the mocks I've done so far it seems like 9 is the place to be. Allows you to get a solid RB1 at either 9 or 16, and one of the top 4-5 WRs at either 9 or 16, whatever order you go. Or you could go 2 top WRs as some have mentioned.

Everything else in later rounds seems to fall into place as well..you're never really reaching and good value seems to be there.

Sometimes I prefer the top. Other times I prefer the bottom. Due to the nature of the scoring here, I'll go bottom.
