I'm sure it's different for everyone and switches every year but for me I always want the ends or as close to it as possible. For this question, I'd want 12th then 11th and so on.
I've found that usually I get at least one of the two picks is value and the other you don't miss out on guys as much because you're thinking "oh my guy will make it back to me". You just go get the guy you want with that second pick. The two other things I like are 1) You can pay more attention to who and how everyone else is drafting because you aren't constantly having to get your next pick ready. 2) You can be the one that sparks a run on a position easier.
I agree in many years.....but not this year.
My preference is 9,8,12,11. IMO, the 11 is the worst spot on the grid. You miss out on the top 5 RBs (DJ, Bell, Elliott, Gordon, McCoy) and the top 5 WRs (Brown, OBJ, Julio, Evans, Green). What do you do at 11? Take Ajayi? Freeman? Nelson? Thomas? Hilton? I hate having to pick from one of those for my 1st round pick.
In general, it depends on your tiers. For me, I have DJ, Bell and Zeke in tier 1, McCoy and Gordon in tier 2, and Brown, OBJ, Julio, Evans, and Green in WR tier 1. I have about 5 RBs in RB tier 3, and about 6 WRs in WR tier 2. So at 11 you get zero value. Picking 8 or 9 guarantees of the top 10 players and you won't lose value in round 2.
