Also the league fee costs are a meaningless factor for determining a league's competitivness, as there are a lot of guys out there with more money than brains.

Here's an anecdote for you... My brother (lawyer) put me onto a local redraft league that was a $350 14 team buyin back in '04 and full of "sharks." League was made up lawyers, doctors and assorted business men with more money than they knew what to do with. These were the kind of guys that would brag about blowing K's in Vegas on the craps tables the previous weekend or betting on every sport imaginable, etc. Big gamblers.Thought I would cleanup in that league but the catch was that it was TD only. And of course, I join in the year Peyton breaks the TD record. And the next year Shaun Alexander breaks the rushing TD record. And the year after that LT breaks the rushing TD record again. I gave up on that league after 3 seasons, if you didn't draft the guys I named you never had a chance.Glad I got out since Brady broke the passing TD record the next season, probably would have been even more frustrated.

I am cracking up at some of the anecdotes on this thread! I find my worst finishes are TD heavy leagues also (don't play them ever now, maybe 10 years ago) and draft only with no transactions (ANARCHY comes to mind) since I can't get rid of injured players which I ALWAYS draft, lol. Over last 15 years or so, I have finished top half/made playoffs easily more than 80% of the time, but probably only played in one really competitive league each season, which I usually have a shot of winning. Most people can't find 12-14 "sharks" in their local setting, so there is no shame in taking money from "guppies" to fund your competitive leagues. It gives you water cooler fodder and bragging rights which is worth a playoff spot in itself. My favorite pasttime is taking over orphan teams and building them up. Took over one team two seasons ago with a horrible roster and high draft pick. Made a couple of trades to get 1-2 semi-studs and ended up winning first season. Was looking forward to last season but league disbanded after commish was killed living in the Phillipines. Adopted two orphans this season. Will let you know how that goes. Later,J

I had a disaster last year on a team that should not have been, first time in years I've not been in the hunt for a playoff spot in any of my non-dyno leagues entering the last regular season week. Post draftQB - VickRB - Ray RiceRB - SprolesWR - NicksWR - MarshallTE - Gates Flex - JordyBN - Stafford/Marshawn/Julio JonesIn season pickups - Tebow/Murray/Cruz/Antonio BrownFinished 11th of 12 with 2nd most points scored.

unfortunately this happens a lot in my league. luckily i have not been on the receiving end, but there are two teams in my league who have been top three in scoring and bottom three in wins in consecutive years. h2h definitely makes this game more interesting and luck-prone than, say, a rotisserie baseball league.

That's why our 6th seed (last playoff seed of 16 team league) goes to high scorer of the league that's not in the top 5. Just in case #### like this happens.
