Let's settle it.

In my mind this shouldn't even be close.

ETA: Screwed the pooch on setting up this poll. I'll try again later.

Tough call actually. For major characters Hawkeye and Radar are probably tops on my list. For a minor character it is tough to argue against Col. Flagg.

Sidney Freedman was a great character. Made me want to be a psychiatrist as a kid, until my dad said i had to go to medical school. Actually might have been a good one, I know and can read people really well, even women.

The problem with WInchester is that the whole point of Winchester and Frank is for Hawkeye and Trapper/BJ to rag on them. The Frank/Hot Lips vs. Hawkeye/Trapper thing was way funnier than the Winchester/Hawkeye/BJ thing. BJ sucked. Heh.

When I was younger I liked the original ensemble better. As I've aged I've gained more appreciation for the later ensemble. While the early shows are generally funnier, the later shows are more thought provoking.

I enjoy the earlier irreverent Hawkeye to the later self-righteous Hawkeye.

Anyone that suggested Sidney has flippin' problems in the skull.

That guy creeped me the hell out. I still can't watch a Sidney episode without having my skin crawl.

M*A*S*H, the film > Trapper/Henry M*A*S*H > Trapper John, MD > Hello Larry > Blossom > BJ/Potter M*A*S*H

The only character that I never liked was Hunnicutt. No personality at all. Just a cardboard cutout setting up Hawkeye's jokes.

Klinger

Hawkeye

Radar O'Reilly

Burns

Trapper

Mulcahey

Blake

Hot Lips

Winchester

Potter

BJ

First 4 are the absolute best, the remainder are also very good. BJ wasn't terrible - just so many of the others were better.

Thank you. That character personified everything that went wrong with that franchise.

It offends me that some A-holes in Hollywood decided that my mind needed to be "thought provoked" when I tuned in to a 30 minute sitcom, especially when there were only 2 other channels of #### to choose from.

MASH invented the preachy "A very special episode of insert sitcom tile here" crapola that became a Hollywood pandemic in the 80's and 90's.

And Hot Lips? Please....when her #### started sagging and her ### started growing she should of been jettisoned for the next Loni Anderson.

But that wouldn't be "thought provoking" and might of offended the Gloria Steinem crowd.

I was trying to think of other shows where characters were replaced and it still worked. Cheers maybe.
