Best NFL season for offensive rookies ever? (1 Viewer)

At RB, we have:

McFadden (shows potential, starter on team if healthy)

Stewart (shows great potential, rookie fantasy results limited by presence of another very good back)

Jones (looked extremely promising before injury)

Mendenhall (biggest disappointment, but primarily due to injury)

Chris Johnson (appears to be as good as his measurables, which is saying something)

Forte (Starting from week #1 and doing great job)

Ray Rice (just put up about a bazillion yards in starting debut)

Now into 3rd round:

Kevin Smith (starter for team, looking solid most of the time)

Hester (disappointment)

Charles (see Rice, Ray)

Slaton (wow, late 3rd and still have good starters both in terms of the NFL and fantasy)

Torain (injury derailment, but hope/hype is there for him to do well soon)

Felton (more your typical 5th rounder)

Tim Hightower (just put once all-world RB Edge on bench)

That's 10+ guys who you could have started in a fantasy game this year with positive results, and maybe a few more to come. Ridiculous.

Then at QB we have TWO NFL starters, both whom have their teams contending for their division titles. Both inherited teams that were offensively horrendous the previous year. Both have been serviceable fantasy starters at times this year. Nothing surprising about the other guys, but having just one of these QB success stories would be unusual.

Then at WR, which was supposed to be a wasteland (with no 1st rounders), looks like it might produce a star in Avery, a solid starter in Eddie Royal, and maybe a star in Desean Jackson. We've got a 6th rounder in Morgan who is starting for his NFL team. But right now, we have three guys at WR who a decent fantasy starters going forward this year. That's very unusual, and some of the other guys may pan at some point as well.

No stars out there at TE, but a rookie taking the league by storm at TE is nearly unheard of and there a couple of guys who look decent so far.

All told, this is the best year I can remember for offensive talent in a draft - at least in terms of short and long-term fantasy impact.

Out of curiosity, why might Avery and DeSean become stars, but Royal will only become a solid starter? Royal has outproduced both of them and looks every bit the part of a future star if you ask me.
