Anyone in the playoffs dodges a bullet with every top-tier player who ends up on a non-playoff roster. Who are the best fantasy players that missed the playoffs in your league?

For our league:
QB: Daniels, Herbert, Murray, Mayfield
RB: Henry+Mixon (on one team believe it or not), Kamara+Kyren (also on one team believe it or not)
WR: Adams, Thomas, Higgins, McConkey

Mainly Daniels and all those RB's I guess are the surprising ones.

QB - Lamar - Mahomes - Burrow
RB - Gibbs - Robinson - Henry - Monty - Kamara
WR - Chase - St-Brown
TE - Kelce

Wow, those are a lot more surprising ones at QB and WR than in our league.

Yeah... The weird thing about Fantasy Football is the guy in our league that had the most points didn't make the playoffs.. He's the guy with Lamar & Chase

That’s criminal

If you're on the wrong end of these scenarios (like being the highest point scorer but missing the playoffs), doesn't that make you want to change formats to a total points league and eliminate the luck of H2H? I've considered it, myself. But I never pull the trigger, because the luck of the weekly matchup adds a bit of fun and variability to a league, even if you get screwed half the time.

I prefer the moderate amount of luck thrown into the mix. I've had my unlucky years and my lucky years. Makes it more interesting.

Reactions: Zow
QB: Lamar, Baker
RB: Gibbs, Kamara, Jacobs, Mixon
WR: ARSB, CD, Terry, Nico, Puka

Also plenty of big names that just simply underperformed, eg AJB.

Notables:

Burrow, Hurts,
Kyren, Henry,
Chase, St. Brown, Lamb,

The same owner had Burrow, Kyren and Chase and didn't make the playoffs. OOOF

Don't really have the time nor the desire to go through my 9 leagues to identify the best players on other teams, but on the teams I missed the playoffs, my best players were:

1. SF Empire = Achane and Bijan as my primary backs. I lost my last three weeks to big scores to be the first out of the playoffs. I also lost Aiyuk and Godwin early and then traded away some short-term but start able assets (Dobbins, Godwin, Pickens, Cousins, Rodgers) for some good depth and 2025 rookie picks. So, no regrets and I'm very optimistic about next year.
2. 6-man keep SF = Lamar/Daniels (traded Lamar away for Daniels plus pieces 2/3 through the season), Chase Brown, Ceedee Lamb, Kelce, and Swift. 10-team league and keepers can only be kept for 2 years so there's a lot of trading so the league naturally gets quite top-heavy.
3. Standard PPR redraft - Josh Allen, Hubbard, Garrett Wilson, McLaurin, Kelce. Just missed out on the playoffs. I mostly blame missing the playoffs on the facts that McCaffrey and LaPorta were my first two picks, I didn't get Hubbard into my lineup in place of Etienne until a couple of weeks too late, and my best players were probably too erratic.

One of my dynasty leagues I played the high point scorer or 2nd highest point scorer in 6 of my 8 losses most of those right out of the gate at the start of the season . I ended up trading away a bunch of guys for injured folks (like Olave/Pacheco and most recently Pickens) the last few weeks as I had no shot at the playoffs. The highest point scoring team also had a losing record and had a lock on the last seed (total points instead of record.) Even after dumping points I still ended up within 10pts scored for the year of half of the playoff teams but over 150 more pts against me than any other team.

:ptts:

We changed all leagues a few years ago to give the 6th and final spot to the team not in the top 5 with the most points. Over the years its usually the 6th best team in terms of record but a couple times someone in the basement made the big dance.

Not my roster but this team didnt make the playoffs in one of my leagues:

QB - Hurts, Geno
RB - Connor, Hubbard, Mostert, Benson
WR - ASB, Metcalf, Nico, Quintin J,
TE - Engram, Freirmuth

This is criminal. We have the top four by record make automatically and then the 5th and 6th playoff spots are reserved for the two highest scoring teams that didn't finish in the top 4. This is a nice hedge to make sure that a terrible schedule luck streak doesn't keep the highest scoring team out of the playoffs.

Not at all. Part of the fun is the H2H aspect. Going to total points or all play or something like that would make it too much like roto style which is boring. You hear about people complaining about being the highest scoring team not making playoffs or being the second highest scoring team of the week and losing to the only team they could lose to but it happens just as much on the other end of the spectrum where you win because you played the only team you could beat that week. It evens out and makes it more fun where you have a single opponent and you have a chance every week.

So I agree with you. The variability can be frustrating but sometimes it helps you out. It is just more fun that way.

Yeah. I also like the rivalry aspect of head-to-head matchups. Who are you supposed to trash talk to without matchups?

I can probably just post the roster of one of my teams that somehow missed the playoffs due to some stupid tiebreaker rule.

Gibbs, Monty, Chase, AJ Brown, Kelce, Kittle and and equally studly set of IDPs

Infuriating.

Unfathomable.

Our league has a rule that the highest scoring player gets the last playoff seed if he doesn’t qualify for it head to head win/loss wise.

It hasn’t happened yet. But I think it’s fair.

Would suck to be the guy bounced though. But we all know the rule going in. So there’s that.

QB5 Jalen Hurts, QB6 Sam Darnold
RB4 Bijan Robinson, RB9 David Montgomery (same team)
WR6 Jaxon Smith-Njigba, WR9 Courtland Sutton
TE4 Travis Kelce, TE5 Jonnu Smith

Our dynasty league is in it's 13th year and somehow the talent is pretty evenly distributed. Also 7 teams in the playoffs (12 teams total) so all the heavy hitters still lurking on an active roster in playoff week 1.

Bijan is the only notable player in our league who missed. Our playoff bracket is stacked and I'm afraid of the Josh Allen owner.
