So I lost Vick and Foster(my first round pick) in a 14 team PPR. I was the last team to take a QB in the 7th. Foster has been my franchise for years, so of course I burned another early pick on Tate. 4th. I went huge the first week, but after that things went downhill. Going into week 8 I traded Sam Bradford for Dalton. I was 2-5 and looking to make a move just for the sake of it. Bradford got hurt that week and that's when Andy started.
But after losing again, I traded Pryor for Zach Stacy, which going into week 9 made sense at the time as Stacy was just getting a grip on what would start to become monster workloads, while Pryor had already blown his load
ANOTHER loss. I thought it was over.
Coming off a 2-7 start, I rattled off not only wins, but points! Points were extremely important. The playoffs are composed of the top 6 teams with the best records, BUT 2 wildcard teams get in, which are the next 2 highest point total teams.
Led by AJ Green, Fitzy, Stacy, and Dalton over the last 4 weeks(especially in the last week of the regular season), I was the LAST team to get into the playoffs. By 5 points over a Peyton Manning and Shady owner(his receivers were horrible in case you were wondering).
Out of the 8 teams that make it, the top 5 scores advance in the first week of the Playoffs.
Remembering back to a 2-7 record, I felt just fortunate to be in the playoffs. But felt even better after everyone put up a good showing. Especially josh McCown that Monday night when he went OFF.
So I'm off to the semis. At this point the season is a success, as I was playing in the most important week where the 3 highest scoring teams advance to the finals and all 3 will collect something. But still didn't expect much.
The semis came down to Monday night . I WAS in fact in the top 3, but only up by 2 points(119-117) against Pitta after his successful return the week before. It was such a great game for him that the team I played against benched Tony Gonzales for him. Well, Gonzales scores a TD, and Pitta finishes with like 2 balls for 22 yards.
We tie, 119 to 119.
The tiebreaker was yards and I outscored him by less than 20. Now. I'm. A. Believer.
Needless to say Dalton and AJ carried me and a 2-7 team in a very competitive, 16 year old league, to another ring. Which is worth more than a very handsome pot.
Lotta luck? Yes. But. You. Never. Know.
Merry Christmas
