Best QB's in their first 9 years? (1 Viewer)

does anyone know of a website that list the all time records for a certain period of a players career?

my boss is saying that Peyton has the best first 9 years of any QB of all time... i find that hard to believe. he's good, but the best of all time... i doubt it.

does anyone know of some names that i can throw out to contradict what he is saying?

You might be in trouble, guy.

Did Jesus play QB after coming out of Jerusalem U.?

If not, you may be in trouble. How much you owe your boss?

:goodposting: Assuming you are talking about TD's and yardage. The only guy who might have a shot is Marino, but if not, your boss just :own3d: you.

Marino 84-92: 37,292yds 270 Td

Manning 98-06: 37,586 275

Does Favre have a chance?

Wait. It has to be their FIRST 9 years or ANY 9 years? If it's first 9 years you can subtract 1900 and 4 tds from Marino.

no money, just pride on the line... he's got a man crush on anyone from the university of tennessee and i like to prove him wrong, but i can't deny how good peyton is....

was tarkenton any good in the beginning? what about george blanda? i've never seen peyton kick a football... so george has a leg up on him (pun intended)

Tarkenton was good but he never got more than 3000 yds passing in season except in 1967 and 1978.

Others that had good seasons in the first 9 years were Montana/Unitas but not as good as Manning.

I don't think either of these guys come close. Blanda didn't throw 20+ TD until 12 years into his career. Here is a good site for stats.

thanks everyone... i'll e-mail him some of these guys. it should keep him busy for a little while looking up everyones stats!!!!

Jim Kelly? low totals though but 4 SB appearances isn't anything to scoff at...

1986-1994: 29,527 yards and 201 TD

guess-Moon might since he came to the NFL as a veteran of the CFL ready to play
quick glance it's close(well..) at leasthttp://www.profootballreference.com/players/MoonWa00.htm

Esp if you keep in mind two strike shortenned seasons
i didn't realize that moon was such a bad ### in his day...
One of my all time favorite QBs! The run and shoot gave him an opportunity to put up some big numbers!

Jake Plummer and Mark Brunell on that yardage list surprise me.

i've never messed with the historical data dominator, but i will....

i felt good about my argument for the other guys until you posted those lists. hopefully my boss won't find this site, i'll still try to make him think he's wrong.

If you count backwards yardage Andre Ware might have a shot.

After 9 seasons, Manning already ranks 10th in completiions, 13th in passing yards, and 7th in passing TD. And he just turned 31.

Explains why he's the boss and you're the peon.Try the Hutson argument on him...may impress him enough to get a promotion to the mail room.

What's sad is this is how the internet enables so many people behave. They start with a conclusion (on a topic they didn't really know much on to begin with), and then work backwards. Let's run to Google to search through mountains of info to cherry pick things that will lend evidence to my conclusion!! Then I can try to regurgitate that info later as if I knew it all along!

Even worse is actually coming here and saying "lol, I really don't know anything about this and now I'm trying to save face. Someone else, please argue for me because I'm unable to." Someone should get your boss to come read this so he can laugh at how badly he sent you scrambling.

Haha. This is precisely what happened with all the recent accounting scandals - we want the numbers to look like this, now figure out how to make it so.

Brilliant move! Now you can search the net all day looking up football stats, that won't save you, without catching heat from your boss. :D

What's the definition of best? Brady already has three rings and he's been in the league 7.
Stats, man - does Brady play defense now too?!?Oh yeah, and using that definition, Marino was gawd awful - as was Dan Fouts, Fran Tarkenton, et. al. Oh wait, but Jim McMahon was better than all of them, cuz he got a ring!! GO BEARS!! :lmao: Players win games, orginizations win championships. Goober >> Brady.
