Here's the sceanario. There's a payout for best record. According to the posted league rules, the prize is for "BEST RECORD".
No tie breaker is specified in the league rules. In addition a precedent was set earlier in the year when two teams tied for the weekly high score and it was announced that they would "split the weekly high score prize". There was no tie breaker discussed at the time for that prize.
(For what it's worth the default playoff seeding tie breaker is head to head record.)
Team A has the advantage in head to head victories.
Team B however has more points on the year.
Should the commisioner use a head to head record tie breaker despite the fact that the rules do not specify such, or just leave it a tie and split the prize?
Please vote on what you would consider the fair way to handle this. I'll post a link to this thread to my league mates so that they can see the results and maybe that'll help with a final decision.
If nothing else this can serve as a lesson to all to consider all possibilities and post them in your league rules.
Thanks for your input.
