Best Sell-High candidate? (1 Viewer)

who are people looking to dump after week 2, hoping to parlay it into a buy-low and keep the upswing going?

personally, my candidates are Desmond Clark, Dominic Rhodes, Mike Bell, and possibly Colston. Bell and Rhodes look like they're finding themselves on the short end of their RBBCs, and i can't imagine Colston or Clark keeping up this pace all season. although part of me is reticent to move Colston as i remember all too well thinking the same thing about Boldin.

wondering what others thought...

Well I really do not think they are sell high. They are about where they have been. (Actually Mike Bell has probably dropped some.) However, I think they are both consitent guys and both will continue to be used.

QB - Pennington/Grossman

RB- Green, Taylor, J. Jones, Dunn, Gore

WR- Cotchery, D. Jax, A. Bryant, Stallworth

I disagree with virtually every one of these picks besides J Jones only because his stock is not high.

Warner

Gore

Holt

Gates

It all depends on perceived value of course.

Im curious why you feel this way as I have several of these players and am shopping them. It doesnt mean anything to give you opinion without any support

Because they are big names, and people still perceive that their fantasy performance will be like in years past, much like Randy Moss. The situations that they are in are much different than in prior years, and if you can get the most value now for them based on name recognition.

In PPR Leagues Julius Jones scored 17 pts in week 1 and on primetime tv last night he rushed for 94 yards. He is in the top 10 rushing yards so far this year. If thats not high I don't know what is. You are obviously high and didn't read my post correctly.

Pennington - has proved that he's a good QB when healthy, I wouldn't want him as a starter but not a bad backup.Grossman - Has looked fantastic so far!! he spreads the ball around, makes good decisions, he has a good running game to compliment him and an even better defense, but again not as a starter.Green - 2 years out from surgory, has proven he can be good, teams still have to fear GBs pass offenseTaylor - Fred or Chester? Dunn - best rushing offense in the entire league, does this guy have to prove himself anymore than he already has?Gore - Their offense looks like it has made very good strides and their O line is very under-ratedCotchery - See Pennington, NYJ will have to pass and you're not going to get much for him right now anyway.DJax - He's good and so is HasslebeckBryant - See Gore, Alex Smith looks like he's for real and Bryant has always been extremely talented!Stallworth - McNabb is on a mission and Stalworth is his big play guy

Well I really thought I would never consider trading him because no one valued him at our draft (I think I stole him when I got him in the 11th).

Anyway, I wonder now if Vick is a sell high guy?

He had 17 points wk 1, but 7-9 this week, depending how you penalize for fumbles. He lost a TD and 8 carries to MB3. I don't see him as "sell high" anymore. That window has closed.

The time to sell Julius was last weekend when he had a very good game. This week he was outscored by Marion Barber on National TV. I would think he's not a sell high at the moment because of this.

I'm curious about the sell high on Gates. This year I actually have him in 2 leagues. I normally refuse to draft a TE as he goes, but I pulled the trigger this year @ 3.10. The only reason I'm skeptical on selling him is I actually think he has a good chance on returning to form. He was only targeted twice in the first game, but Rivers only need to throw 11 times in that game. This week his targets were up to 8. These were the easiest games that any team has played so far. The schedule is going to get tougher(more passing required) and Rivers is gaining experience and confidence. I think Gates is going to get his numbers this year. Hopefully not just wishful thinking. :bag:

How are Holt or Gates sell high candidates?
Probably because LHUCKS feels that they will not return to form so you better sell them while they still have their stud status label from years past. You might get some to overpay for them now that you wont get later. Just a thought
ding ding ding
You may have a point with Gates, maybe get a WR1 or RB2 for him? I'm still high on Holt -- he usually starts off slow. I had projected him to be the top WR this year, and I still think he's a virtual lock to finish within the Top 5. I own him in a number of my leagues, and I'm not sure I'd be able to get proper value for him at this point.Plus, I don't really think these guys belong in the "sell high" category. More like "get anything close to fair value for them while you can." How can you ""sell high" the players who have perceived falling value?

Two very good points here. I really don't see Warner as a "sell high". I'd like to see what trades have been done with him during this season. I gave a mid-high 2nd rounder in a 16 team league for him before the season, but I already had Leinart. I don't think his value has risen much since then. Now, maybe you could get an IDP stud or your sleeper WR from a team with Plummer or Brooks, but I don't see Warner having much value in most leagues.

Your point with Warner is likely the opinion of the shrewd buyer -- the sellers probably have an inflated opinion of his value right now. Someone tried to offer me Warner for Dunn in one of my leagues last week.

exactly...it all really depends on the perception of the players involved. In my expert leagues there are far fewer trades because everybody properly values players.

That's a bizarre statement. Who's to say what is "proper value". Value is completely objective, unless of course these "experts" live and die by an FF site's cheatsheets.

Couldn't agree more with LHucks on this one.

I think you mean subjective, but good point otherwise :)
