Best spot for Kyle Orton (1 Viewer)

Since it appears Orton played Jerry Jones and is now not going to retire, where is the best spot for Orton?

One obvious spot is back in Chicago where Jordan Palmer and Jimmy Clausen will battle for the number 2 spot. Orton would be an upgrade over both of these guys.

New Orleans might also be a good spot. With only Luke McCown to compete against. If the Saints are serious about a SB run they should have an experienced backup behind Brees.

Another could be KC. I think Orton's skill set would work very well in that offense.

Where else could Orton be an immediate upgrade to the backup QB position?

Good or bad for Sammy Watkins? I remember this guy sucking in Denver but he can't be worse than EJ Manuel. EJ Manuel is really bad, not as bad as Kirk Cousins bad but really bad.

I don't remember him being terrible in Denver. In his two full years in Denver, he had a 21:12 and 20:9 TD:INT ratio...both with McDaniels as his coach.

why do you think he sucked in Denver? Because Tebow-time came in and stole the spotlight?

1st two years in Denver, he did this:

2009 (15 starts): 62%, 3800 yards, 21 TD, 12 INT, 7.0 y/a (team ranked 15th in passing yards)

2010 (13 starts): 59%, 3650 yards, 20 TD, 9 INT, 7.3 y/a (team ranked 13th in passing yards)

I don't think Orton was the problem there. Seemed like Josh McDaniels was not head coach material though.

In 2009, Brandon Marshall put up 101 receptions, 1120 yards, and 10 TDs

In 2010, Brandon Lloyd put up 77 receptions, 1448 yards, and 11 TDs

This should work out pretty well for Watkins.

yeah he didn't suck. he was pretty competent from what i remember and the stats back it up.

Shouldn't the title be "will Bills move to kyle orton hurt browns?"
No, that article is from the Browns' slant. The author (incorrectly, IMO) is presuming that Orton will actually be worse than EJ.

The Bills are 2-2 and reeling to the point that they are changing quarterbacks after losing two in a row. In Buffalo, the team has a front office and coaching staff that used a first-round pick on EJ Manuel, traded a future first-round pick for Sammy Watkins, and now are benching Manuel in favor of Orton, which does not seem to help the offense coalesce.

I may be nuts (I'm probably nuts) but I think Orton could be a QB1 in a 12-teamer. Totally serious. He's got weapons, he's gonna run the offense the way it's designed and he won't panic and make a ton of bad decisions like EJ did. He'll probably have a few 300 & 3 games by accident. Here is the list of QBs I would want over him going forward:

Luck

P. Manning

Rivers

Foles

Cutler

Rodgers

Stafford

Ryan

Brees

Wilson

Ben

So, yes... I'm saying he could post Top-12 numbers from now until the end of the season.

Oh, and his fantasy playoff schedule is fantastic.

W14 - @ DEN

W15 - vs. GB

W16 - @ OAK

He's gonna have to put up some points in the first two, and they'll be able to do whatever they want in the last one, as we all know. :bag:

I'm not buying man, you got a good sales schpiel going too, but I can't forget how worked up you got me for Jake ####### Locker! :towelwave:

Locker has flashed potential. He just can't stay on the field. Believe in me with Orton! :gang2:

He's a professional quarterback... exactly what that offense needs.

Garbage... like I remember this clown.

308 yards and a W, on the road against a fearsome D-line. Yeah, this is gonna be good.
Yeah he's awesome. It's not like Detroit kicker went 0-3 to lose this game for Detroit. It was due to Orton's heroics that got Buffalo the win.

What else did he do besides check down to Fred Jackson on half of his throws? I still say he's garbage. But Bills D on the other hand, deserves some props.

Did you miss that pinpoint 43 yard bomb to Goodwin right on the money, who was double coveted that set up the game tying TD?

Or the throw to Watkins that set up the game winning drive?

30/43 for 308 yards and a TD is pretty impressive for a QB that took 0 snaps prior to this game.

There is no way in hell they win this game with Manuel.

I think Detroit's kicker blew a coverage on those.

Sounds like somebody was counting on EJ Manuel to lead his team to victory.

Didn't see the game but stealing a game in Detroit against a tough D seems like a pretty good game to me.

 Bills had more time of possession, more yards, more yards per play, more passing yards, more first downs, and 5 times as many 3rd down conversions as the Lions did today. And they did pretty much nothing on the ground all day.

Lions fans seem to be putting the blame on the kicker, and yes he played poorly, but the Bills didn't just luck into a win.

Orton isn't as good as Matthew Stafford, but he sure outplayed him today.
