Is it already time for Joe's NHL bashing thread?
This makes sense. NHL is first tier, went to a early regular season NHL game last night and it was more exciting than attending the fourth game of the world series. Crosby, Sakic, Smyth, and Malkin. That was awesome.

MLB is not dying. MLB is bringing in money hand over fist and has expanded it's market to the Far East and Latin America and fans are going to the ballpark more than they ever have. MLB is more popular than American football right now in the world and it's growing exponentially. It isn't as popular as football in the States anymore but it is still the #2 sport and it's reach is going to become the chief rival of soccer because the Asians love it. And frankly, there are a lot of Asians. Hispanics in the Western Hemisphere love it too and they are providing some of the best players these days. Oh and btw, Baseball>FootballHTH

World Cup Soccer?Olympics?
I'm pretty sure "Olympics" isn't a sport. "I got a gold medal at Athens games!""Oh, yeah, what event?" "The Olympics."
Also the World Cup and Olympics are sporting events, not sports. Soccer is played at the World Cup, all kinds of sports/sporting events at the Olympics.

Tier 1 sports: Football of all kinds, basketball of most kinds. Golf with Tiger Woods in contention on Sunday

Tier 2 sports: Baseball, Nascar, Tennis with Fedderererer and Nadal playing against each other.

Tier 3 sports: Golf sans Tiger, EPL soccer

How anyone can put the NBA is tier 1 blows my mind. This is by far the worst sport out there, it's totally unwatchable. I'd rather watch a bunch of cars go in circles for hours on end. At the same time, it amazes me how the NHL gets no respect. This is probably the most exciting spectator sport going, and people will watch NBA over this? Simply mind-boggling.

"You look at the nhl playoff [ratings] numbers, and they have been beaten pretty soundly by poker and bowling," said Paul Swangard, managing director of the Warsaw Sports Marketing Center at the University of Oregon.

NHL hockey live is one of the best tickets you can get.
Big thumbs down to minor league hockey though. I went to a Chicago Wolves game, and wasn't real impressed with the product on the ice...but they did a lot of neat things for the kids/fans though.I've heard the NHL product is much faster, which would interest me more.
