Best time of the year to start a new Dynasty League? (1 Viewer)

At what point in the NFL calendar makes the most sense to start a new Dynasty League:

-Pre-NFL Draft and Pre NFL FA (Feb 2-Mar 10)

-Pre-NFL Draft and Post NFL FA (March 10-April 30)

-Post-NFL Draft and Pre Training Camps (May-July)

-Post-NFL Draft and Post Training Camps (July+)

Also, what website do you recommend as having the most comprehensive and active Dynasty leagues?

I'd say post draft, pre camps. That way everyone is set with what will be their long term roster before the injuries start screwing around with the initial roster fill draft order.

As for most active sites, I don't think you should he concerned with site as much as the people you recruit into it. You have to emphasize emphasize emphasize commitment during your initial owner recruiting. You can find people on a million different sites to join up. They just meet at your chosen website. But it's about the people and their long term commitment first and foremost.

As with redraft leagues, the later the better. The closer you can get to the start of the season is preferable due to having the most recent information.

The problem is that most new dynasty league drafts are usually completed well before training camp opens and if you wait until July/August you might find yourself shut out of joining a startup league that year. I was in four startups in 2014 and the last one started 5/11/14. I could have participated in a few drafts after that, but it seemed the choices became more and more limited.

Personally, I think a Pre-NFL draft is fine, so long as draft slots are selected rather than rolling the dice on individual players before we know when they are selected and what team they are playing for.

Was part of two startups last year. One as sole commissioner (10 teams), and the other a co-commissioner (12 teams).

My :2cents: , I wanted a democratic / full input process for both. The 10 team league had nobody offer any suggestions while the 12 teamer spilled over with ideas. So while you may have this idealistic concept to be all-inclusive about people's thoughts for a startup, sometimes you have to take charge.

Don't be afraid to assert yourself when the occasion arises. Otherwise, you'll just have a bunch of jumbled crap that nobody understands.

You should have your membership together now.

Your scoring should be complete and explained to all members before May.

Your roster requirements and any summer schedule should be finalized before the NFL Draft. Are you going to mix vets and rooks, or split them?

Like I said, just my :2cents:
