Good points, but 4K content is already being created as far as outside broadcast media. Personally, I always wait for an event like the Super Bowl (I think Sony is gearing up for a launch of 4K displays for the World Cup) to get deals offline.RN, is this your centerpiece TV or a satellite TV? I guess what I'm asking is, what is your setup? Are you running multiple TV's for NFL sunday's, etc. and are looking to upgrade some of those, or would this be your centerpiece TV? I'l assume at 90" this is the centerpiece TV for you. If you're running multiple TV's for sports, might be worth what drummer was saying and doing a 50-60" for the centerpiece and refreshing the satellite's too with the excess left. My only thing with 4k is, I'm sure it will be amazing, but how long will it take for the next Blu Ray to pump content out for it? Will it be "downloadable"? My point being, you might be waiting for some time to even get enough 4k content to make it worth it. I'd do highest refresh rate 1080p centerpiece TV that makes you happy, and if you have leftover and have multiple TV's for sports, upgrade them too if need be.
I already have a few of them. Although they don't render well with my setup.Plus, I "hear" there is a Naughty, forget the rest of the name, adult website already putting tons of 4k content out there.
Worth investigating
I think unless you have a wired setup, that's your only chance with any 4k video outside of direct connection via a WDTV or similar device with content loaded on a USB drive or stored locally. 1080p itself needs to basically go wired to play without jitters/stops in the video play, I've never been able to get even 1080p videos to play seamlessly over wireless N.I already have a few of them. I've got a 70" Mitsubishi in my media room....can't even imagine a 90". Holy jeez.I have an old-school 65" Mitsubishi Diamond. It has served me well for many years, but it's getting old. Time for an upgrade.
GB of mine had a projector a few years back, and the picture is vastly inferior. Have they come a long way?Projector out of the equation? I have one in the basement that goes up to 120" that's great and far less than that.
Completely whiffed on mentioning this. A GB of mine has a projector in his basement, 1080p, and it's freaking sick. It's definitely worth investigating when you're getting into the 80in+ range. The picture quality is fantastic, not sure off the top of my head what make/model, but it's awesome. A bunch of us watched a playoff game last season on it, ruled.GB of mine had a projector a few years back, and the picture is vastly inferior. Have they come a long way?Projector out of the equation? I don't know about better. I have had the Sharp 80" now for almost a couple of years - it was was less than half the 90". The 90" was $10K at the time so you can see the drop in that time in the link. Well worth it. Picture is awesome and I typically sit about 8 feet from it.Radier, why not get a projector ? it would probably be cheaper and better
Opinions vary when it comes to these things and there are people that are just crazy when it comes to audio and video, but unless you're one of these people, I couldn't see why you wouldn't think the picture quality is awesome. You're talking like $2 for the entire setup. The only downside is that you need a basement environment that you can get really dark.GB of mine had a projector a few years back, and the picture is vastly inferior.
