Jones beat out Calico (incumbent) last year and beat out the other rookie WR's by a good margin(it sounded like). He was starting to get more involved(targets) in the offense until the ACL injury. He will have a tough time competing this year coming back from the injury, but has more upside than the other young WR's....

Jones has vastly outplayed the other 3 thus far and he's tops on my list until the others give me a reason to change it.

I voted Calico, but it's still based on what I saw of him in exhibition games in his rookie year.

The injuries he suffered take two years to come back from, and it's been 2 years now.

If he doesn't at least mow out WR3 this year, I think his window is closed. And that would mean beating out all of the other young guys.

Jones is the logical pick though.

I am hoping someone can tell me why calico is on the list?

I vote Jones. He was getting it done prior to injury.

Arent Givens and Bennett young still too?

Yes, they are young, but they are also the unquestioned starters and don't have as much to prove as the other four. I included Calico for the same reasons MLB mentioned, just in case. I voted Jones myself, but I was trying to hear any and all perspectives. Thanks again for the input guys.

Calico is done. The guy is as brittle as they come and it appears he has lost a staep after his knee injuries.

Update:

Jun. 21, 2006 - 9:25 a.m. ET

Titans coach Jeff Fisher says Tyrone Calico's calf injury isn't "as severe as we thought."

"It could be a little bit of scar tissue from the old injury, which could actually help him," Fisher said. "We'll hold him out this week, but it's not significant." Calico is battling for a roster spot.

Titans have a bunch of young WRs.

Bennett - 27

Givens - 25

Calico - 25

Roydell Williams - 25

Brandon Jones - 23

Courtney Roby - 23

Bobby Wade - 25

Sloan Thomas - 24

Jason Anderson - 24

Jonathon Orr - 23

O.J. Small - 23

If you watched the Titans last year, Roydell Williams vastly outplayed the other 3, with Jones coming in a distant second.

:hot: I would have thought this would be over by now.

I wouldn't count on any of these for much, but if they all reached their potential, Calico would be the best of the lot.

The only one of these I have in any league is Calico, and I wouldn't trade him for the others. I would for Givens or Bennet of course.

Frankly, I'd take Troupe or maybe even Scaife over these.

I read somewhere last year, think it was at the main site here, that Roby was the most talented but also very raw. He would be my fave from a risk/reward standpoint.

Jones seems to be the most secure pick

Not other categorey. With next year being a so called dream WR class, I could see the next Titans #1 coming from there instead.

With gaping holes at OT, DE, MLB, and DB, the Titans drafting ANOTHER WR when they have Givens, Bennett, Williams, Jones, Roby, and Wade on the roster would be highly unlikely.

A friend of mine coached R. Williams in college. Williams is the most physically gifted between himself, Roby and Jones but extremely raw. From what I understand Williams' has an Adonis/beach body type physique and the tools to eventually be able to play at a decent level on Sundays. He is a phyiscal monster. However, it is going to take time for him to develop. He is your massive boom v. bust player.

Jones and Roby were fairly established players coming out of college. Jones, while sharing the spotlight in college with Clayton; Bradley and Wilson, looked very good last year prior to injury...very good. However, I cannot find anything definitive on his rehab and he did have a fairly significant injury. He is not as technical as Clayton but he will play over the middle. More importantly, it did not ever appear Jones was in awe of NFL game speed. He has the injury to deal with and has a certain amount of risk associated with him. If healthy, he is the pick.

Roby looked like a typical rookie. He had bad games. He had average games. He had a few solid games and the light was coming on at year's end. Roby had a very accomplished college career. He holds every major receiving record for IU and it could be argued is one of the best offensive players that school has ever had. He is far from being considered a project player, like R. Williams. He has the least amount of risk associated with him. He also has the greatest chance to show himself this summer. You will know sooner than later if Roby is going to make an impact or not.

I do not have a high opinion of Givens, Bennett, Calico or Wade for dynasty purposes.

:goodposting: WR is among the least of the Titans needs. Right after TE, OLB, and DT.

You could have made that argument this year and they still drafted Orr.

Orr, Jonathan 6-2 197 Wisconsin 6 172 Tennessee You draft value when it's there, but I highly doubt they're looking at Orr to be their go-to WR. It might happen I guess.

They might draft another WR, but it won't be in the first 4 rounds (most likely)

BTW, you have to love the scouting report:

Orr is a receiver that does not play up to his height, weight and speed combination.

 So, you are suggesting they drafted a 6th rounder to fill a need?

Or, they would have the same considerations for the 1st overall pick, as they would a 6th round pick?

Nothing confusing.I am suggesting that a blanket statement was thrownout about the titans not drafting a WR, when this year's team has the exact depth chart and guess what they drafted a WR. Nobody qualified the Titans won't draft statement until later.

IMO, the Titans have a ton of unproven bodies and just added another this off season. It is not beyond the question for them draft a WR in 2007 at any point. Bodies don't equal quality. Heck, how proven are Bennett and Givens are in thier 1A and 1B roles?

BTW, it is way too early to be listing or suggesting needs for the 2007 draft. We have a whole season to play where some players will emerge, others will disappoint and those needs will change drastically. More than a slight chance that if Fisher's team sucks again, he will be coaching somewhere else.

I will be quiet now and let the Titans fans tell me which WRs on thier squad not named Bennett or Givens is worth a late round flier or that last seat of my dynasty bench.

If Brandon Jones is the one to have, then I'll avoid them all - I'd call him a placeholder until they get someone better.

Those of you down on Jones, I think the kid has potential ... a lot of it. Injuries really hindered his 2004 season and many did not get to see him. In 2005, he endured a QB change and really came on late in the year. I think Jones could actually turn into a legit WR1 ... maybe starting this year.

Jones has the potential to go off for 7 or 8 TD's and 700-900 yards next year. Vince seemed to favor him in the redzone as the season went on, and he was still recivering from his knee injury at the beginning of this season. Plus next year will be his 3rd year which is always something I look for in WR's. The Titans will always be a run first team with Vince at the helm, but Jones will likely be taken pretty late in fantasy drafts and has real sleeper potential to be a good 2nd or 3rd fanatsy WR next season.

:kicksrock: :hot: My thoughts exactly.

One of the things I can happening some is that because of Young's running ability safeties will cheat up and Jones will be able to get behind them.

I'd list them in this order...

1. Brandon Jones

2. Brandon Jones

3. Brandon Jones

Courtney Roby, Jonathan Orr.. c'mon! :football:
